The new installer is open source now and this should make it more easier to maintain in the future, but currently unfortunatelty has some serious regression regarding accessibility. Hi, I'd like to volunteer to help with the Plone docs. I can update the "Installing on Windows" (http://plone.org/documentation/manual/installing-plone/installing-on-windows) page, since I've just installed the new Plone-4.1.2 on Windows. If someone could give me the appropriate permissions that would be great. Thanks, -- Larry Pitcher Catapult Solutions Web: www.catapultsolutions.net Email: lar...@gm... We're investigating various Intranet tools to help replace our antiquated .ASP-driven website. This week it's the turn of Plone. I've just downloaded and run: setup-plone41-4.1.2-5119-win32 and in step 6 of the instructions on the website - http://plone.org/documentation/manual/installing-plone/installing-on-windows - it says I should be prompted by a wizard for a Username and Password. I've tried installing once, removing it (removing any files left behind, naturally) and reinstalling it. I'm not asked for a Username or Password during the set-up procedure. I can run Plone afterwards but I cannot get further than the 'Create a new Plone site' option as that's asking me for a Username and Password which I've not been given the chance to set up. Likewise, there is reference in the instructions to a Plone Windows Controller which should be setup with the above installer - I get nothing of the sort. There isn't a Plone group in my Windows menus at all. Any help is appreciated Mike Technical Author, CDL (Stockport, UK) www.cdl.co.uk<http://www.cdl.co.uk> P.S. Hey, I just tried adding dexterity content via WebDAV. The small snippets in section 6.15 WebDAV and other file representations where very helpful. http://plone.org/products/dexterity/documentation/manual/developer-manual/advanced/webdav-and-other-file-representations However, I believe the part about custom IFileFactory could use a small enhancement. In my code I had to change the call session = createObject('example.conference.session') to session = createObject('example.conference.session', id=name) else the newly created content object is not getting an id at all. I guess this happens, because there is no NameChooser being called during WebDAV content creation, which should not be done anyway, but because of this the id needs to be set upfront. cheers Gerhard |

And the error you are seeing is a PloneHelpCenter bug, it should display a login screen instead of an error. Hi Michael! I'm actually on the plone-docs list... thanks, glad to hear it helped! And yes, it is due for some updates (collective.recipe.backup is probably much more useful than the obsolete PloneMaintenance). I'll try to update it. :jon On Wed, Aug 31, 2011 at 12:01 AM, Michael Wunderlich <mi...@in...> wrote: > Please pass this feedback to <jonstahl> who suggested this document, just to > let him know that I followed his suggestions :o) > > Couldn’t find Jon’s email anywhere to cc this message. > > > > TIA > > > > <IntranetGWT> “newbie” > > > > Michael Wunderlich > > Adelaide, South Australia > > > > > > > > > > > > http://plone.org/documentation/kb/backup-plone > > > > > > Includes: > > > > 1 > > > > More information about Repozo can be found in Backing up FileStorage files > on Zope's website. Hi all, I believe this is my First Post in the Plone Mailing Lists, so Hello everyone! :) I have read the following (great) Plone Knowledge Base (KB) article about "High Availability" and "Load Balancing" for Zope and Plone, authored by "Goldmund, Wyldebeast & Wunderliebe": HA-Cluster with loadbalancing for Zope (and Plone) http://plone.org/documentation/kb/ha-load-balanced-cluster-for-zope-and-plone Halfway down that web page, there's the following sentence: "Note that this configuration does not add 'sticky sessions' to the balancing. To achieve this, we refer to another howto on this site." The "another howto" expression in the above sentence is a hyperlink to the following URL: http://plone.org/documentation/kb/sticky-sessions-and-mod_proxy_balancer However, if I click on that link I get the following error message: ---------------------------------------- We’re sorry, but there seems to be an error… The error has been logged as entry number 1314810706.590.767316766604. If you need to report this to the Site Administration, please include this entry number in your message. ---------------------------------------- So, can anyone confirm that there still is a "Sticky sessions and mod_proxy_balancer" Plone KB article / howto and tell me if the URL has changed, please? I tried entering some search queries in the "Search" box of the Plone.org web site, but I couldn't find it! :( Thanks in advance! :) Best wishes, Ricardo Dias Marques lists AT ricmarques DOT net |

Please pass this feedback to <jonstahl> who suggested this document, just to let him know that I followed his suggestions :o) Couldn't find Jon's email anywhere to cc this message. TIA <IntranetGWT> "newbie" Michael Wunderlich Adelaide, South Australia http://plone.org/documentation/kb/backup-plone Includes: 1 More information about Repozo can be found in Backing up FileStorage files <http://zope.org/Wikis/ZODB/FileStorageBackup> on Zope's website. The repozo.py script can be found in the bin directory of your Zope software installation. It contains an informative docstring about its command line options. Backing up FileStorage files http://zope.org/Wikis/ZODB/FileStorageBackup Broken Link 2 A product that may come in handy is PloneMaintenance <http://ingeniweb.sourceforge.net/Products/PloneMaintenance/> . You can use this to automatically pack the database from time to time. You can configure it, for example, to pack the database every night before the system backup script runs on your server. In this way, you'll get a safe daily backup of the database (assuming the system backup is guaranteed to run after the database has been packed). Plone Maintenance is not found in PyPi and seems not to have been updated since 2007. |
