Gentlemen, I am putting the following patch into SVN right about now. It fixes the joystick behavior under Windows 7. - John F. Unfortunately, the patch had a minor problem: the active widget was also scrolled when the mouse wasn't hovering over it, which is bad. Find an improved version attached. m. |

In the case of puaLargeInput this is a bit more complicated, as this widget doesn't use regular arrow buttons. m. Hi, I found a bug in jsMacOSX. fgjs, a joystick utility that comes with FlightGear, crashes on Mac OS X in jsJoyStick.rawRead(). The cause is that fgjs calls jsJoystick.rawRead() with buttons = NULL, but there's no NULL check for buttons in the method. Attached is a patch for fixing this issue. As long as I've tested on my end, it works fine. Best, Tat |

The Attachment allows the samples to build under Opensolaris with SunStudio or GCC in order to link with SunStudio it is required that the configure script is invoked like this: CC=cc CXX=CC LDFLAGS=-lsocket -lnsl ./configure I don't know much about autoconf maybe someone else could look into it. Although it all compiles and links the audio examples don't work, it looks like it is related with the DSP code but I'm totally new to Solaris and don't know what could be wrong. |

OK, I've put that change into SVN. It's revision 2157. Interestingly, the examples don't build "right out of the box." It can't find "freeglut" on my system. That's probably a local problem to me. Yes I do now. The issue is that if you do not have the development versions of the libraries, the test app used for testing GL fails due to a lack of libXi and libXmu. You should be able to repeat the issue by removing the development versions of those libraries. Regards... I apologize for not putting [Patch] in the subject line previously. The attached patch is to allow plib to correctly return the joystick OEMName when "getOEMProductName" is called under Windows Vista. This patch is to jsWindows.cxx which causes (in my tests) the joystick OEMName to be properly returned by "getOEMProductName" in both Windows XP and Vista. In my tests today, under Windows XP SP3, both the last release plib "getOEMProductName" and the latest from trunk with the attached patch return the proper OEMName for my Saitek joystick. Under Windows Vista, plib trunk only returns the correct value with the attached patch applied. I am still unable to test under Windows 2000 or earlier. DDS is a relatively new Microsoft format that handles DXTn compressed textures and oddball stuff like cube-maps. There isn't a PLIB loader for it - although one could be written in principle. The usual problem with Microsoft formats is that they are typically not decently documented because Windows users just call a built-in Windows function to load them. Since PLIB demands portability - we can't support anything like that unless we can support it on at least Windows, Linux and Mac. -- Steve. |

Xavier, I will have to defer that to somebody who knows what DDS textures are. - John -----Original Message----- From: Xavier BERTAUX Sent: Friday, March 06, 2009 5:14 AM To: pli...@li... Jari, I have put your changes into SVN. I took the liberty of changing the warning message slightly so that we would not have two identical messages for different conditions. Please check my changes and make sure that they work for you. - JOhn -----Original Message----- From: Jari Hakkinen Sent: Thursday, March 05, 2009 3:42 PM To: pli...@li... Subject: [Plib-devel] [patch] Improved joystick support for MacOSX Hi, To get my joystick (Saitek Cyborg Evo Force) to work with flightgear on my mac I made the plib changes outlined in the attached diff file. The issue resolved is that my joystick/mac mixes usage pages kHIDPage_GenericDesktop and kHIDPage_Simulation for axises. The suggested code change treats the two usage pages similarly. In the original code the Simulation usage page is treated as "weird" according to the error output. Can someone with subversion write credentials please review my additions and apply the patch into the subversion repository if you the suggested improvements useful. Thank you, Jari << File: jsMacOSX_cxx.txt >> << File: ATT00098.txt >> << File: ATT00099.txt >> |

It seems that Microsoft no longer (Vista and maybe XP) places the joystick OEMName in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, causing "getOEMProductName" to fail. Instead, the joystick name can be found in HKEY_CURRENT_USER. The attached patch has been tested on Windows XP and Windows Vista with "JS_demo.exe" from the FlightGear project. If it fails to read the value from HKLM, it attempts to read it from HKCU. I do not have access to Win2k or 9x versions for testing. Thanks. |
