Description could be changed to: "task element which signifies the start point of the task" but is "signifies" really the verb to use here? What does that signify? What is the difference between "start element" and "start task"? Change Note 1 to: Not all formal task descriptions require start and end elements, their inclusion in a sequence is optional."
