Just for kicks, I recently tried out mapping with a Roomba. Initial results are promising: http://www.ai.sri.com/~gerkey/roomba/ The 'roomba' driver in Player CVS works but is missing some functionality (e.g., power, bumpers). Patches to improve it are welcome. brian. |

It seems a more than decent configuration for such a task. To be honest, I didn't try it. Our SLAM system has some shared lib dependencies that prevent me from easily running it on the Gumstix. Perhaps 2D SLAM can be done onboard, but the lack of FPU hardware makes me skeptical... brian. |
