Hi all, Was just wondering whether the new ogre3d based gui for gazebo is going to have the same mouse button bindings (for manipulating the viewpoint of the user) as in wxgazebo? If it's not too much trouble, would the designer(s) consider changing them to make them more like ode? That is: * left button: pan and tilt * right button: translate (sideways *and* forwards/backwards) * middle button: ascend/descend vertically I find the current wxgazebo bindings rather awkward because there is no button which will allow you to translate forward and backwards whilst maintaining your current height and viewing angle. Instead you have to "zoom" with the middle button, which usually changes your height at the same time (meaning you then have to correct it). If the zoom capability is important to keep could it be bound to the scrollwheel instead? Anyway, just thought I'd make the suggestion sooner rather than later since the gui is currently being built. I've always found it a bit awkward to move the camera to the opposite side of an object to see what's behind it (too often I accidentally zoom backwards into space!) or to simply follow behind a moving object without zooming past or into it. Another option would be to allow the user to change the bindings to suit themselves (but no doubt there are more important things to be working on). Cheers, Solly |
