Are you using an AX2850 without encoders? I think the driver was updated such that if it finds the encoder card, it will attempt to use encoders for speed control. This isn't the best assumption, as it is obviously problematic when you have no encoders attached. I was able to go in and disable this behavior temporarily, but I think there should be a config option like "use_encoders" which defaults to off. I might come up with a patch later today.
