Dear Brian,

Many thanks for your answer. I would like to also ask that if i imigrate 
from stage 1.6.5 to stage 2.0.1 , will my simulation be working also in 
stage 2.0.1 ? or should i make much or any modifications to something again 
e.g my world file,cfg or control program ?

I assume you're using Stage?  The trail visualization was not added
until Stage 2.0.0, which requires Player 2.0.0.  So you'll have to
log the robot's position and make the plots yourself.  Matlab, or a
very recent version of gnuplot, can display a background image (e.g.,
your map) with data (e.g., your robot's trajectory) plotted on top.
