But it shows that it is possible to exchange files apart from sending them as an attachment. Thanks again! Guido |

I've tried creating a PDB containing a list of the injured players in the NCAA ACC conference. One of the fields, the team name, is of type list, and should be one of: field "Team" list "Clemson/Duke/Florida State/Georgia = Tech/Maryland/North Carolina/NC State/Virginia/Wake Forest"=20 When I look at the PDB on my Visor Pro, everything looks correct,=20 except for the records for the following players: "1","Virginia","LB","Dennis Haley","NCAA","Expected to miss Saturday's = game." "1","Wake Forest","RB","Chris Barclay","hamstring","Questionable." Both players appear with a blank team name. I checked the header in the PDB, and the list field for team name=20 appeared to be correct. I also checked the records for=20 the two players above, and they had the correct item id for=20 their respective list entries. So I don't think the problem lies with = the db-tools, but with Pilot-DB. Also, when I exit this PDB on my handheld, I get a "Fatal Abort" message: MemoryMgr.c, Line:4450, Invalid chunk ptr. The attached ZIP contains the following files, referenced above: 2003_NCAA_ACC_team_injured.csv - my raw data 2003_NCAA_ACC_team_injured.nfo - the info file used to create the PDB 2003_NCAA_ACC_team_injured_d.pdb - the actual PDB. Any help would be appreciated. -Shane Harrelson |

Hi everyone, the virus annoyance seems to have ceased, yet while sobig.f was pesting this list there were suggestions to disable file attachements. Now I see from a previous posting that it´s still possible. Disable/Enable? What do you think? My view is to disable file attachements, which, on other lists I have subscribed to, is the usual case. If someone needs to share his or her file, he or she should announce this on the list and either send it to those by private mail who explicitely agree or provide a link to the file for downloading. Or not, it's back today. And I've not used DB since the last post. I have no pilot-db databases currently on the SD card, and yet the same VFS error is coming up. If I pull the card and rescan databases I don't get the error. Replace the card, launch DB again I get the error. Putting a DB (moved via the VFS plugin) on the card, makes no difference, but the plugin is working as I can still access the DB when on the card. All databases have been rebuilt, still no clues as to what's causing the error... |

> Maybe Pilot-DB is looking for a file that is no longer there. If you can't open one of > them, then delete it (which will actually only remove it's name > from the list of DBs, since it's not there anyway). I've seen that when a VFS based database is open and the device fatal exceptions. But the result has always been a visible database duplication (up to now). One copy would open and the other wouldn't and could be deleted. Not the case here. I was merely fishing for some thoughts from developers as to where to look from there insight into the code, since this was the first I'd seen the issue, and I have about 40 databases, so opening all was a bit tedious. But that's in fact what I ended up doing. First Deleting DBDatabases, lost categorization as expected, but also didn't remove the error on launch. So I restored it from SD Backup. I launched each database in turn, and especially checked each database with links to other databases via Edit Database Design, and with a new test record to insure the links were all valid. I got to the end without discovering any issues. All databases and links opened fine. Yet that resolved the issue somehow. There's no longer the error message on Pilot-db launch. Bandaid on the symptom, but failed to glean knowledge as to the source. |

Saturday, September 6, 2003, 12:22 Craig Bowers, Maybe Pilot-DB is looking for a file that is no longer there. That is, maybe you deleted a DB file, but Pilot-DB thinks it is still there. Saturday, September 6, 2003, 12:19 Tore Wijola, To delete an unwanted database, click on the little icon next to the database's title. In the little pop-up menu, choose Delete. You can also delete the database file externally (using programs like PZ or Filez, on the Palm), but DON'T DO IT!
