This causes what looks like movement and is more likely to catch your eye than just changing the title and leaving it. This new version adds an option to only show the username in the title every other flash. This allows for true flashing of the title (Blank, username, blank, username... etc). Put this file in your <gaim source>/plugins directory and type "make notify.so" Then move notify.so to the directory containing your compiled plugins (ie /usr/local/lib/gaim) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Michael (scribeofthenile) Date: 2004-12-22 05:47 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=763986 A great modification! I really hope this gets added into the core distribution. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Danny (cratos) Date: 2004-11-04 17:20 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=711015 I have just updated the plugin to fix a few annoyances of mine: 1. Flash feature is now activated even if the message you recieve is the start of a conversation. 2. Window "urgency hint" no longer gets 'stuck' on. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Danny (cratos) Date: 2004-09-30 03:06 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=711015 I have updated the plugin to work with Gaim 1.0.0. There is just one problem with the URGENT hint. KDE/XWindows/Something only flashes the taskbar 3-4 times, then the tab just stays highlighted. This will not get my attention unless I happen to look at it during those 3-4 flashes, so I want to upadate the plugin so that it toggles the URGENT message as well as the window title. For some reason when I toggle the URGENT message off, nothing happens. The tab stays highlighted as if it were still URGENT. It doesnt go away until the window actually recieves focus then loses it again. Does someone know if this is a KDE limitation or an XWindow limitation or what? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Luke Schierer (lschiere) Date: 2004-06-27 18:37 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=28833 A new version of gaim has been released. It is likely that your plugin will crash in the new gaim. As per our standard policy, we are only including plugins that we write, being unable to maintain hundreds of plugins as we develop gaim, if you want to continue making your plugin available, please update your plugin and reopen it. If not updated, this will close in 14 days. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Hobadee (hobadee) Date: 2004-05-25 03:32 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=997443 <Feature Request> It's kinda annoying to be in another desktop and have a message arrive but never realize it because you are looking at something on desktop 42 instead of desktop 15. Initial Comment: I was thinking it would be useful for a lot of things to have text replacement that was based on regular expressions and used the matched expressinos in the replacement. I happen to talk about math a lot on IM. I have a cgi script that will generate a picture from a LaTeX expression, but it would be very nice not to have to "include a link" every time I wanted to use that. just put, say, \(\sqrt{2}\) and have it recognize the \( and \) and pass the \sqrt{2} to the cgi script in the link. another idea this makes me think of is it would be nice if gaim proccessed the <IMG> html tag correctly and actually showed the image just like it would in a web page instead of showing nothing. I don't know how hard that would be, though. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Yoda222 (yoda222) Date: 2004-12-08 22:35 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1105048 Hello I've develop a little plugin for gaim : http://sourceforge.net/projects/gaim-latex which can affich LaTeX image in the IM conversation. It has been tested both in Windows and in Linux Note: plugins/Makefile.am is missing a line, which has been fixed in CVS. For those not using CVS, you 'll need to add the following line right after -'DVERSION=\"$(VERSION)\" \': '-DDATADIR=\\" \'. Many thanks to Kevin (static_earth). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Daniel Beardsmore (uilleann) Date: 2004-12-05 18:07 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=473078 Bug report for Win32 Accounts State. It might also apply to the X11 version. Accounts State has major issues when one uses gaim with a single protocol active, e.g. running with nothing but AIM connected. When you set Accounts State to write the status to a pane in the blist window, it causes gaim to crash if the connection drops. As far as I can tell, this is because as soon as the last protocol goes offline, the blist window is closed and discarded and the login window appears. Next, Accounts State tries to modify the window, which is no longer there, and the program crashes. A similar problem occurs if you elect to have accounts state shown in a separate window. Each time you log in and the buddy list window is created/shown, Accounts State opens a new state window. When the connection drops and the buddy list window closes, Accounts State will clear but not close the state window (presumably the same occurs if you choose to log off via the Accounts window). The result is multiple open Account State windows, of which all but the most recent one cannot be closed. Attempting to close one of them will close instead the most recent one, leaving you with only old and inactive windows. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Daniel Beardsmore (uilleann) Date: 2004-10-21 20:25 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=473078 Nifty plugin! Saves having to dig out the Accounts window to see whether an account is still online (sometimes reconnect fails). Oh, and this is going to be superb for MSN at work (for which I use gaim not Messenger =]) which has an away system manifestly incompatible with gaim and I can't ever tell what away is set to... A couple of thoughts. Perhaps, an option to keep all accounts' icons permanently visible, but dimmed when an account is offline. Clicking the icon would then sign on the account. (The only downside is when you have a few unused accounts - I have several accounts I usually ignore - MSN and 2 IRC accounts (on my home PC)). Plus, a context menu for the buttons. Presently, left click controls away status, but being able to sign off (etc. - maybe also include an account actions submenu?) via the little button would also be nice. I'm not a fan of having to dig up the Accounts window to control accounts in Gaim or the way the buddy list window won't remain open when I sign out - I like the way Mac ICQ works - the buddy list is always visible even when signed off, and contains a Connect button when you're offline, so that window is your central control point for the entire application. Your plugin brings Gaim a bit closer to that :) (I know, my subconscious still can't decide whether or not to capitalise /[Gg]aim/...) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Juan (amoeba2k) Date: 2004-10-09 06:40 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=970708 In response to "static_earth": Thanks for the tips. However, I chose to move account_state.so to /usr/lib/gaim/ for all users. It all works good! Thanks ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Ficoos Bangaly (ficoos_bangaly) Date: 2004-10-07 14:04 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=826938 Or as I previously stated. As a proud Gentoo user I just download the source configure it got to .../gaim_source/pixmap/status/default/ and make install it as root. Also I had this problem even when I used MDK and BSD so it's something some distros do. But you can use this to your advantage and have different Icons for the account state bar and games general. and you can also cp /*current game pixmap folder* /*default gaim pixmap folder* if (unlike me) you don't normally have gaims' source handy. It's less then additional 100K I think everyone can afford that. Thats it. You must excuse me but I don't have the patience to spell check this. Enjoy. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Ronny (rharyanto) Date: 2004-10-07 06:50 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1134562 Regarding the undisplayed pixmaps on the buttons (reported by celloandy), it is because the gaim source code used to compile the plugin is configured with a different --prefix (default is /usr/local) than the gaim source code compiled by the distro (in gentoo --prefix is /usr). One quick and dirty way to workaround it is to hardcode the path, in load_status_icon() definition change DATADIR to "/usr/share": full_filename = g_build_filename("/usr/share", "pixmaps", "gaim", "status", "default", image_name, NULL); ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Kevin Duffus (static_earth) Date: 2004-09-22 02:31 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=789094 amoeba2k: start with a clean gaim build. run configure. mv account_state.* in the plugins directory. enter the plugin directory. To compile you just have to do: make -C plugins account_state.so 2>&1 | tee mkacctstlog and you will also have compile log in mkacctstlog (I'm assuming you are compiling on Linux). If that doesn't work, you could download the source, compile gaim from that clean copy, then compile the plugin and send the log to me and to Michael T. Dean (sourceforge user name: mtdean). If the developers change some of the functions/data structures that the plugin use, we have to make changes to the source code. Or maybe some behaviours can change from one version to another, and so we have to make changes as well. In 0.78 they changed the plugin api version (it's the value of GAIM_PLUGIN_API_VERSION defined in plugin.h; now it's 4) and everything compiled with a previous version cannot be loaded. It was the only change that influenced the plugin, so I just recompiled it (and so it used the new version...) I will post on sourceforge too when we will resolve some bugs. I hope you will give me good ideas about how to make the context menu better... ;-) Btw... you are welcome for the other part :) I will post a popup_notify compiled version as soon as possible, but maybe only after we resolve an issue with received messages. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Kevin Duffus (static_earth) Date: 2003-10-07 04:15 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=789094 The creator of popup_notify "guy", myself, does not own a Windows system so I cannot provide DLL builds for you. The only thing I would like to see added is the ability to click on the icons to toggle their on/offline status, or even a "connect all" button. Keep up the great work! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Diego Gaddoni (gaddoni) Date: 2003-09-06 14:31 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=726151 New version that works with the new event framework. Now icons are grayed when accounts are idle. Also corrected some bugs. It should compile without any problem both in Linux and in win32. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=390395&aid=782841&group_id=235 |

Basically I'd like to use it to connect to and monitor multiple MUDs (Since I use GAIM for everything else, why not, eh?) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Jason LeBrun (jblebrun) Date: 2004-12-02 23:47 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1124754 If you just need a basic text protocol, this is probably pretty simple. But, most MUDs I've used have a lot of ANSI codes to format and color the text, and I'm guessing that'd be less trivial to implement, although there's probably a library that does it. It might be an interesting exercise, maybe I'll try it one day when I'm bored. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Tejing (tejing) Date: 2004-12-02 18:32 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1151444 I think the gaim people don't really like the idea of using gaim for something that's not instant messaging or chat, though I suppose MUDs are a kind of extra complicated chat room ;-) (I would like this too, but it's probably not going to happen) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=390395&aid=1064963&group_id=235 |

---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=390395&aid=1078085&group_id=235 |
