Hi all, I've been tweaking the existing markup for a couple of my wikis and would like some feedback. I've added ';;' creates a linebreak, in addition to %%%. This seems a more natural symbol (semi-colon being 'end of clause' and ;; not appearing anywhere I can think of), but does it clash with any other markup? I've reversed the order of headings, so ! creates a h2 heading, !! = h3, !!! = h4 (and added !!!! = h5, just in case). This fits with the 'more is deeper' logic of the bullet lists. Also, people tend to use a single ! to mark out the sections of their doc. When a sub-section needs adding, they have to change all the ! to !!, and again for sub-sub-sections. Okay, people should use !!! from the start... but they don't. That's people for you. I had to rejig the IncludePage plugin too - my first go at negative lookahead regex :) Any thoughts/comments/suggestions? > > 'dsn' => > > 'mysql://dbusername:password@localhost:/tmp/mysql.kershaw/databas > > ename', After numerous (private) e-mails back and forth, John and I have figured out the problem. What it boils down to is: If you want/have to connect to your mysql server via unix (rather than inet/tcp) sockets, you should: 1. Make sure you are using recent Pear code, such as that which now ships with PhpWiki. 2. Use DSNs like: 'mysql://user:pw@unix(/path/to/mysql.socket)/dbname' Probably, using the ADODB backend (if your PhpWiki is recent enough) instead of the Pear-based backend would work, too. With older Pear code (including that which ships with most distributions of PHP), it seems that it is not possible to use unix sockets --- at least not without some serious hacking. |

Hi, I discovered recently that I was used 1.5Gb of my bandwidth on 'remote MySQL transfers' because I was using 'kershaw.org' as $hostname. My ISP said I should set $hostname to 'localhost:/tmp/mysql.kershaw' in my php scripts and the requests will stay internal to the server. I reduced my usage by a third, but realised a couple of my phpwikis were still using: 'dsn' => 'mysql://dbusername:pas...@ke.../databasename', I tried to change one of them to: 'dsn' => 'mysql://dbusername: password@localhost:/tmp/mysql.kershaw/databasename', but get a bunch of errors which I presume come from phpwiki parsing the hostname incorrectly out of the string. How do I get things working properly? (phpwiki 1.3.2) John. -- ----------------------- phone: 07944 755613 email: jo...@ke... web: www.kershaw.org AOL: johnkershaw ----------------------- |

You have to create the phpwiki-tables for each web with the different prefix. The call for a specific web would then be "http://yourdomain/prefix/index.php". What I am missing in this approach is that you have a central user definition (e.g. like TWIKI). I hope this helps Hardy Haardt |

Hello wiki group! I'm a new wiki user and I'm very amazed by it. I plan to use wiki with some work groups and I have some questions: 1- Is it possible to restrict access inside areas of wiki? 2- how to use a lot of wikis at the same server? (with only one mysql base) The reason of those questions are: I have different work groups and some of them dont share the same topics. So each group could have their own wiki. Some topics that we deal are not for the public, and so we need a "member only" wiki. I think I could just place an .htaccess in the wiki folder, but I dont know how to restrict access to a particular wiki . Thanks! Oliver |

Just an admin note that SF instituted new shell servers and the cron jobs had to be moved... this I did, and the creation of a nightly build and update of the test and demo sites should continue as normal. Anyone interested where I've been: started a new full time job in February, which has kept me more than busy, to the point where I hardly turn on my computers anymore when I go home! I really do hope I am not missing something obvious :) I am working on an internal PHP Wiki site, and have gotten requests turn = on HTML support. The INSTALL file says: "2. Good Follower of Documentation that I am, I uncommented this block: elseif (preg_match("/(^\|)(.*)/", $tmpline, $matches)) { //HTML mode $html .=3D SetHTMLOutputMode("", ZERO_LEVEL, 0); $html .=3D $matches[2]; continue; } Is there anything else I need to do? Found the really simple solution myself: I've installed a fresh version of PHP and the register_globals was defaulted to "OFF". I switched it "ON" and voila. But The system is not really stable, sometimes the PHP crashes with ""access violation". I'm a newbie; apologies if this is a known problem (or a "feature"). I'm using phpwiki 1.3.3, on an OpenBSD 3.0 box with PHP 4.0.6p1 and MySQL 3.24.42. When I create a link with a hyphenated word using the bracket method, such as "[test-25]", I can then go the "test-25" page. However, when I click on the title of the page (which is supposed to show the backlinks), it never finds pages that link to "test-25". Also, "test-25" shows up in OrphanedPages. This problem seems to be restricted to pages with hyphens in them (I've only tried it with hyphens followed by numbers, actually). Is this a bug? Thanks, Pradeep Atluri |

Hi, I'm sure I'm doing something wrong here, but for the life in me, I can't see what. I've just installed a new wiki server and, as expected, if I go to http://wikiserver/phpwiki/ I get a brand spanking new front page. If I then go to: http://wikiserver/phpwiki/?MyNewPage I then (as expected) get told that this page doesn't exist and I should click on the question mark. When clicked this link sends you to a URL of the form http://wikiserver/phpwiki/MyNewPage?action=edit This 404's. Can anyone suggest what glaringly obvious thing I've missed? Regards -- Martin A. Hey, I find it most amusing that I found your site. My name is George, but you= may remember me =20 as Lord Ashton, or "Ass-ton", as Anroidicus playfully called me in one of= his last e mails, which I refer to the "And Another thing..." letters. No, seriously, I kept gett= ing a nudge to go check out the OT pages, thinking there was a new message I might find int= ertesting, and when I typed in the address, I paused, wondering whether to put dot-com o= r dot-net, then I found myself typing dot-org, which I knew was a mistake, but I laughed wh= en I saw what you had put up since I left the OT forums. That's right, I'm the one who was rais= ing so much much "stink" that got everyone so upset. I was certainly happy to see someone who stuc= k to their truth as I did. We must truly be "brothers" in the highest sense. Let me know how to validate the subscribe email so I can join your forum.= I put in the code number but it came back. I tried just sending a blank email and it did the same.= =20 Oh, I read that last page from star sapphire and she sounds like another = hippocrite with control issues, but hey, they have their own sandbox to play in. After some more investigation, it looks like PHP is segfaulting. Is anyone using PHP 4.1.2 successfully? Specifically, using it with debian unstable. Regards, Mark |

OK, Some more data: In the apache error log, each attempt to access the wiki gives: [Mon May 13 14:52:49 2002] [notice] child pid 4406 exit signal Segmentation fault (11) Of course, the pid changes each time. What's going on? Mark |

Hi all, I've been using a Wiki as my personal home page for a year or so. My server is Debian unstable. PHP 4.1.2, mysql Ver 11.16 Distrib 3.23.49 I just upgraded to phpwiki 1.3.3. Now I get a blank response from the wiki: "server returned no data" One time I got it to work by reloading the schema into mysql. it worked fine for a while but was screwed up again the next day. What does this mean? I don't have access to the apache logs. How can I troubleshoot my wiki? The wiki is at http://mlug.missouri.edu/~markages/wiki and can also be accessed as: http://mark.rages.net http://brian.rages.net http://hudson.rages.net etc. (I use wildcard DNS to map to Wiki pages for my family. But the first URL is the unmodified phpwiki install.) Regards, Mark Rages mar...@ml... |

Hi, I've set up my various wikis to email me when pages are updated, and it sends me the text of the new page using: //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// // // From here on, we're actually saving. // mail("not...@ke...", "wiki-site update: " . $pagename, "http://www. wikisite.com/pages/$pagename?action=diff\n========\n" . $content, "From: no...@wi..."); in savepage.php (1.3.2) Is there an easy way to adjust this so it just mails me the diff between the changed page and the previous version?
