Hi all, sorry if this is already a FAQ. I'm using phpwiki 1.3.3., and I'm having the following behaviour: when I add a page that uses a <?plugin ... ?> it seems to me that the plugin is executed twice (I've added a tracing statement at the beginning of the run() plugin method) trigger_error("About to run", E_USER_NOTICE); For example, the backlinks plugin shows this behaviour, and the info plugin too: but when you call the info outside of the page, all is o.k. Any Clue ??? Best Regards /gp |

Hi, We use wiki to collarboratively build documents about the free software philosophy and open-source development model. After a short period of test drive, we find that improvement need to be done to match our requirements. - two views : - public (static web) e.g. http://opensource.thai.net/pub.php/OpenSourceDefinition - wiki e.g. http://opensource.thai.net/wiki.php/OpenSourceDefinition - three level of users - anonymous (can read and discuss) - user (can also edit) - moderator (can select a wiki page to public) This is a departure from the wiki philosophy but we need it because we have to make documents that can be referenced from the public (e.g. the Thai translation of GPL) and also let anyone asks (what clause #1 mean?) and discusses (clause #1 traslation is misleading). We think that we need to implement the folowing :- - user authentication, thru phpnuke, which is elsed elsewhere on the same website - link wiki pages with phpnuke's News module to allow easy threaded discussions w/o wiki editing knowledge - UI for moderation, e.g. a button that flag that this version is moderated so pub.php will show it - pub.php to show only the latest moderated version of any page Any advice? -- Feel free to forward or quote to any individual or public. I have set up a phpWiki site on a server hosted by ClaraNet, and using their mySQL server. Starting from scratch, everything seemed to go fine. The pages for a virgin phpwiki were copied into the database. The hit counter for pages gets updated when I view pages. This suggests that I have the correct database permissions. mySQL tells me: +-------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Grants for phpwiki@% | +-------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | GRANT USAGE ON *.* TO 'phpwiki'@'%' IDENTIFIED BY PASSWORD '2c6acbbc4de6173f' | | GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON phpwiki.* TO 'phpwiki'@'%' | +-------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ The problem comes when I try to edit pages. The edit view comes up fine, but if I click on the 'preview' or 'save' buttons, or try and log in, I go straight back to the edit view as it was *before* I made any changes. If you want to see it failing, have a look at http://www.teaminabox.co.uk/wiki/ I really want to use phpWiki for this, but if I can't I'm going to have to go for one of the more basic ones. Any help or suggestions will be very welcome Chris |

Hi, after trying to stick an include in my wiki template, I get this warning = error (plastered all over the page): Warning: The call_user_method() function is deprecated, use the=20 call_user_func variety with the array(&$obj, "method") syntax instead in = /home/tara/public_html/spirolattic/lib/ErrorManager.php on line 138 suggestions for fixes? Other than that, I'm considering an upgrade to 1.3.3 (I think I have=20 1.3.0) - can anybody tell me if it's really worth it, and how much of a=20 hassle the migration would be? Enter a wikiword like "DanielBondurant" (without the quotes) for the username, and leave the password blank. Since this process uses HTTP authentication to prompt for the username/password, it is somewhat browser dependent. If it doesn't work as advertised, it may be due to interactions with your browser. [PhpWiki 1.3.3 doesn't uses regular HTML forms rather than HTTP authentication to prompt for the username (& password).] |

Hi Matt it looks like your problem is here: 'prefix' => 'phpwiki_', in order to use that all your tables will need to be like phpwiki_link instead of just link or set the prefix to '' and it should be fine. Hi, if InterWikiMap is read from a file phpWiki 1.3.3 not only display a warning at the end of each page but also at the top: phpwiki/lib/PageType.php:157: Warning[2]: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() This kind of thing *usually* indicates missing range checks ;-) |

You can have 2 different PhpWiki applications running on different sites using the same database. The first one is for professors, you can control the access with a combination of .htaccess and .htpasswd files. The second one is for students. In this one you need to hack PhpWiki to disable the edit functionality. -- Sandino Araico S=E1nchez - Piensa en grande - Comienza en peque=F1o - Escala r=E1pido |

Access rights basically go against the entire philosophy of "wiki".=20 However TWiki has implemented most of (or perhaps more then) what you need and should be usable for what you want (if you don't mind a perl implementation instead of php). Otherwise you'll have to hack phpwiki into doing what you want. You might want to read back through the archives, a couple people have already made all the changes you require to phpwiki but I don't belive they ever posted diff's. Adam. Hi all, I'm using a hosted configuration, a pretty standard RH ISP install. I've created a MySQL database, phpwiki, and a user to access that database, wikiuser. According to my ISP, they are to be referenced as prosys_phpwiki and prosys_wikiuser, respectively. In addition, the ISP says the database is at localhost. So, my dns line in index.php is: 'dsn' => 'mysql://prosys_wikiuser:<password>@localhost/prosys_phpwiki' This is the error I'm getting from running the wiki: ( [nativecode=Access denied for user: 'prosys_wikiuser@localhost' to database 'prosys_phpwiki'] ** mysql://prosys_wikiuser:XXXXXXXX@localhost/prosys_phpwiki) I've deleted and remade the user, in order to check whether a password misspelling was at fault. TIA for any hints on where to look, Hank Fay |

I have set up a CVS PhpWiki at http://beta.asheesh.org. Running on PHP 4.1.2 and MySQL 3.23.51, it's working fine. I have disabled ALLOW_BOGO_LOGIN and enabled REQUIRE_SIGNIN_BEFORE_EDIT, which leaves me with one user: the Administrator. How do I add others? I want to add other valid usernames to let others collaborate, but only those who register an email address. -- Asheesh. |

Could you set up a separate PHPWiki for each professor, giving him admin access, denying BogoUserId, and requiring signin before edit? You don't seem to need collaboration, so there's no particular need for the Wikis to be joined. To address the only-some-parts-editable, write a template that includes navigation (basing it on Sidebar would seem reasonable). Wiki users cannot edit the template. -- Asheesh. |

hi, for a university project, I have to set up a web site which is, for certain sections automatically built using PHP/MySQL, and, on certain other sections, open to modifications by professors for their students. The professors don't want to learn HTMl and they want to update the content of their pages directly on the web. Of course, each professor is responsible for the content of one or two pages, and the students can't update them ! Wiki seems to be a perfect tool for the update of these pages, but I have 2 questions : * How can I set up the rights the modifiy each page (page "1" can be edited by this man, page "2" by this other man, ...) ? * I don't want the professors to change the menu of the pages on the top or on the left. How can I build a web page where only a part can be edited with Wiki ? Thanks very much for your answers ! -- Jean-Michel Mermet GreCO - MLC BP25 38040 Grenoble Cedex 9 T=E9l. 33 (0)4 76 82 77 22 (nouveau !) Fax. 33 (0)4 76 82 77 51 M=E9l. Jea...@gr... |

My view on the philosiphy of wiki, is that you are not supposed to control the users... let versioning handle vandalism problems. Also, I am considering creating a branching wiki, with moderation and subscription system. (more below) That said (easiest hack... probably not the "right" way) I would consider adding a field to the edit page that asks for a password. I would have the password hard coded in the recieving script, and compare the submited password with the other password, and accept or reject the changes based on comparing those strings. To have it switch between everybody editable and su edititable, you could have a check box field, and if checked, and the password is valid, it becomes locked, the unchecked and password valid unlocked. To store locked or unlocked data, you could probably add another field to the database... or hack somethign togerther with a flat file... or, have a special string start the wiki page that forces it to be locked. (you can omit, or set the checkbox with this string) Then... session data... /security.. You would have to re read the stored file to check to see if it is actually locked or not, you would not be able to upload the form to the user.. and have them change the locked keyword that starts the page, and have the lock check be based on user submited information. Check out www.faqts.com they have a moderation system... but not subscription... I'm compiling ideas for it, and am slowly learning programming to actually do the subscription method. * (More) I was considering adding a moderation and subscription system... if a person wants to control the layout of a page, he could enter a username and password, then moderate the changes. Another user would be able to apply a users moderation settings. I was thinking about having my home page being a wiki, that anybody would be able to edit, but their edits affect a secondary page... If I approved of the changes, I would "subscribe" to that persons changes and make it show up as the home page. Let everybody change the data as they want, make sure that all voices are available, have users select their filters and have non filtered versions a click away. If you can help me implement this, let me know... I am trying to create my own "micro wiki" witch will be a versioning flatfile single page to start with... I haven't figured out how to configure a database yet, and all of the wikis that I have installed have not had clear references for prerequisite programs... I'd insert the references myself... but I still haven't found them. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Rick Parker" <ri...@wi...> To: <php...@li...> Sent: Saturday, June 29, 2002 8:32 PM Subject: [Phpwiki-talk] users > How do I control the users? > > I would like to have certain people maintaining their own pages, but > others only get "read" and admin is of course "all-powerful". > > > > > ------------------------------------------------------- > This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek > No, I will not fix your computer. > http://thinkgeek.com/sf > _______________________________________________ > Phpwiki-talk mailing list > Php...@li... > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/phpwiki-talk > |

How do I control the users? I would like to have certain people maintaining their own pages, but others only get "read" and admin is of course "all-powerful". |

Hello, I basically just want to get a wiki of my own up and running. I am a bit flexible on what I run. What database program should I install. Or, flatfile is fine in the short term.. but the documentation seems to hint that it is broken... is there an older version that flatfile works? Does anybody have source for a personally configured wiki that I can look at? Thanks -AP (extended info below) I have PHPwiki 1.3.3 Apache 2.0.39 PHP 4.2.1 (This combination I haven't figured out how to get work) PHP 4.3a (didn't see how to start trying) IIS5.1 PHP 4.2.1 (default install) ASP (whatever comes default) (My test PHP app works) I have just installed: MySQL 3.23.51 (default install, started playing with usernames and passwords.. but have don't see the association with the data) I have an MSDN subscription, (a gift to me) and am willing to use it in the short term... Open Source would be nicer though. because I saw that mentioned in the site. I poked arround with the index.php file, and tried to set it to run with MySQL.. and I ended up resetting it all to default. I am new to all of this. I unzipped the PHPwiki in c:\inetpub\wwwroot\phpwiki\ www.openproliferation.org/phpwiki/index.php My asp copy said it installed fine... but it doesn't work either www.openproliferation.org/openwiki/ -Aaron Peterson 509 332 7697 (preferred form of communication) ICQ 2302806 (almost always invisible) alp...@ws... |
