Hi Shaun I am using Firefox and the pic had the words to the right, but when I added the next section it to was on the right of the pic. So I moved the text to the bottom, that way it was seperated from the text of the section above. Hi Matt I would like to know if I may use the picture you have for your 404 error pages for my site. I do not want to take it without at less asking. Robert btw I like the way pictures can be added to a site but if you look at my site there is a problem if it is a big pic, with the next section. <a href="http://www.wolfclanwebsolutions.com/hosting/">FalloutRC2</a> |

Get it here from Sourceforge: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/phpwebsite/phpwebsite_1_0_0_RC2.tgz I'd like to thank those who gave me feedback on RC1. It should also be noted that I received a lot of information from the Windows people. Hopefully, this next one will work better. Hi Matt I am trying out as much as I can and on the user new account creation, if you use the "Use graphic authentication" for account creation the graphic is not showing on the sign up and you can not create an account. But with out it you can create an account just fine. Again really like 1.0 Robert |

http://phpwebsite.appstate.edu/index.php? module=pagemaster&PAGE_user_op=view_page&PAGE_id=29&MMN_position=36:4 is a bit freaky. I guess you've not got the menu template nested that far. ie. no menuitem2.tpl etc for that level. And the page content then seems to have been forced to clear past the left edge. Incidentally, the content for those pages is the current versions of modules which would appear to be way out of date but then it's all got to change for 1.0.0. The only small niggle that I can see is that you're missing the http://www.web.appstate.edu/favicon.ico when you go to http://phpwebsite.appstate.edu. Other portions of the appstate.edu site have this icon. Now I could offer you this favicon.ico file http://www.asu.edu/favicon.ico . Hi Matt I was trying to get tinymce working and found an anser to get it to work but am not sure if it is right. I had to edit the head.js file of the tinymce editor. This is what was in the head src="./javascript/editors/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/tiny_mce.js"></script> This is the change that I made src="./javascript/editors/tinymce/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/tiny_mce.js"></script> Now all I did was unzip tinymce_2_0_6_1.zip in the javasript/editors/tinymce directory but as you can see if someone does this then the script can't be found by the head.js file and you get a 404 error when trying to edit or create a page. If I am in error myself please advise what I did wrong and a fix for me. Robert |

Actually we can thank our Web Advisory Committee for developing the layout: http://www.webmaster.appstate.edu/contacts/ Chris Larson and Lacey Vickery designed it. There is some new blood in ITS and they are great to work with. I made a translation of their original design for 1.x and a student named Jeff Tickle refined it for 0.10.x. That is what you are seeing now. Hopefully we will be running 1.0.0 on the home site soon. Matt > Congratulations on whoever did the redesign at Appstate. Nice clean > design. It seems like it's taking ages to get out but I'm trying to wind down on v0.10.3 development and get it out there, other work permitting. There's a few things that I could do with some help on though which I've not looked at. 1) The Calendar module needs a look over. I think most of the bugs are php5 related but more and more people are hitting php5 on hosting company servers now. 2) Wendall has disappeared and there's critical bugs in phpwsrssfeeds that need fixing, especially if you're using non-ascii characters such as pound and Euro symbols in announcement titles or summaries. It'd be a pity to release a new version without an updated feeds module. 3) Installing on php5. Not done it myself but I seem to recall there was an issue. So if anyone wants to adopt an issue, please do. I'd like to get finished up with what I've got to do this week. Ship in July ??? Hello all, I plan on pushing out the second release candidate at the beginning of next week. It will contain the Photoalbum and Form Generator modules. I also have done some work on the conversion scripts. They will be included as well. I will try to go over some documentation as well. For those of you who installed RC1, you can try the Boost updater. I have created packages of all the modules and placed them here: http://phpwebsite.appstate.edu/downloads/modules/ (Photo Album and Form Generator are there for downloading if you want to try them) To see how Boost works with updates, you will need to: 1) Download the updated core from http://phpwebsite.appstate.edu/downloads/modules/core/core_1_0_0.tgz untar it in your installation directory. 2) Run Boost. On the core module tab, click 'Check' next to Boost. You should get a notice that an upgrade is available. Download it into your installation's mod directory and untar it. Now update it inside Boost. 3) Repeat process 2 for each module you want to update. Here is a list of the modules that have updates: comments filecabinet layout miniadmin related users profiler rss Untar each in the mod/ directory and update each in Boost. You should also get the updated javascript and theme packages: http://phpwebsite.appstate.edu/downloads/javascript/javascript_1_0_0.tgz http://phpwebsite.appstate.edu/downloads/themes/default/default_1_0_0.tgz Of course all of these will be included in RC2. Hopefully, the new Boost process will help keep sites up-to-date. Allowing just a Core update will assist with any security patches (of which we hope are infrequent). It will also allow module dependencies on the core. Have a good weekend. Matt -- Matthew McNaney Electronic Student Services Appalachian State University http://phpwebsite.appstate.edu |

I think it needs an 'Easy Install' and a 'Custom Install' option. I've also not got a project that needs 1.0 and many that still need 0.10.x so I've no real excuse for using it yet. I'll have to think one up! Shaun aegis design - http://www.aegisdesign.co.uk aegis hosting - http://www.aegishosting.co.uk |

While I appreciate new ideas, I am reluctant to even consider them until 1.0 goes into stable status. The release candidate received a fairly lukewarm response. I not getting many bug reports, code review, or assistance. You are welcome to discuss future ideas, but please don't expect my input until I can release a stable 1.0. I don't wish to sound harsh, but I didn't want y'all to think I was ignoring these type of recommendations. I just don't have time to consider them yet. http://microformats.org/ This is a open standards approach to creating human readable semantic =20= data formats lead by Technorati and in particular Tantek =C7elik (he =20 who designed the Mac IE rendering engine and a big standards fan) and =20= Dan Cedarholm of http://simplebits.com/ (who's one of the best and =20 most knowledgeable designers going IMHO). "Designed for humans first and machines second, microformats are a =20 set of simple, open data formats built upon existing and widely =20 adopted standards. Instead of throwing away what works today, =20 microformats intend to solve simpler problems first by adapting to =20 current behaviors and usage patterns (e.g. XHTML, blogging)." What's interesting about it is that it uses XHTML as the standard for =20= data so, for example, instead of a vCard like this... BEGIN:VCARD VERSION:3.0 N:=C7elik;Tantek FN:Tantek =C7elik URL:http://tantek.com/ ORG:Technorati END:VCARD You get... <div class=3D"vcard"> <a class=3D"url fn" href=3D"http://tantek.com/">Tantek =C7elik</a> <div class=3D"org">Technorati</div> </div> Which means you can plop it straight into a web page and style it. =20 There's standards for vCard, iCalendar, reviews, tags and evolving =20 standards for many other common data formats. Perhaps we should adopt this approach and use microformats throughout =20= phpWebSite ? Shaun aegis design - http://www.aegisdesign.co.uk aegis hosting - http://www.aegishosting.co.uk |
