I moved the class directory under my phpslash directory and that, by itself, didn't change anything. I still got the same error (but with the new path). But in the course of fiddling with many things, I eventually also tried changing my classdir variable in my config.ini.php to a relative path, rather than an absolute path. That worked. I then ran into a template error which claimed that the story.tpl template was invalid. On a hunch, I changed my basedir variable to also be a relative path, and now the phpslash site comes up. So I guess my only question now is whether I'm likely to run into any problems down the road because I'm using relative paths instead of absolute paths? In any case, thanks for the help Joe!
