To get past this error short term, change the default comment mode to "index". Seems to display OK. It looks to be another memory issue. I've seen threads with hundreds of comments on other systems with no problem. Ajay has made mucho improvements to the comments system since release of 0.62. In 0.62 there is a db query for each comment. Sorry I don't have more to add.
