There are a couple of arguments for including all the needed code to run. Easier install is a big one. I think if the install docs for phplib were revamped some that would help alot. It's really not as hard as the phplib docs sound. A few reaons against including phplib: increased maintenance - keeping the distributed code up-to-date. increased support requests - bug reports would have to be passed upstream. Some other projects do bundle the template and db libraries. I've seen template bugs reported to Geeklog and template complaints to phpShop due to them not having upgraded phplib. At the time it was decided to see how development of phplib progresses and/or the proposed move to PEAR. Joe |
