#3 Separate parts from hardware type

I think it makes sense to remove the hard drive,
graphics card, etc. from the hardware type table and
treat them as peripherals. Those with shops that have
varying hardware due to replacement parts and merging
companies will use it in this way. I tend to be one
of those anal types that tracks part and serial
numbers for everything. It makes busting the bastards
that stole your hardware much easier (I speak from
experience).

Hmmm - no need to remove them (permanently) from the
hardware type table, since many people like the system the
way it works now, and you can simply (as you say) add
things as peripherals. A compromise would be to make it
possible to hide any property of hardware type, so you
don't have to look at it...
