Hi, The mailbox associated with the site I have my phpgedview installed is recently abused by spammers. My provider suspects phpgedview as the cause. I did not yet update to the most recent version, so I am wondering if the Sun Tzu hacker has anything to do with this abuse. Of course I am updateing to version 3.3.8 now, but I want to be sure that attacks are past Gtreetings, Jos Maas-- Met vriendelijke groet Drs. J.P.M. Do you really think the IP address will actually reflect the attacker's real IP???? At 18:17 7/04/2006, you wrote: >Can you look at your sites stats and tell us what IP the hacker used? |

Dave, Bad luck indeed. Can you look at your sites stats and tell us what IP the hacker used? I have a website on JanHost. It seems to have PHP. I am able to use the phpgedview test.php file and it runs. I have MYSQL on it. I am able to run basic database queries and have it post to my website with PHP. http://sizemore.10e.net/phpGedView/viewdb.php I have uploaded the files to the site. I have altered the config.php file. I have even opened up the permissions to 777. Still no luck. I am using the phpGedView-4.0beta6-all. What am I missing? I really want to use this tool. http://sizemore.10e.net/phpGedView/admin.php http://sizemore.10e.net/phpGedView/ http://sizemore.10e.net/phpGedView/index.php Sorry I am such a nubie at this product. There are at least 3 places that need the max_time variable increased. The first is the php.ini file. This file can be found in several places, search for it. I finally found the used file, on my system, in the = winnt directory (sometimes called windows). The other 2 are in phpgeview one in the database config [$TIME_LIMIT =3D "720";](the 720 is what I use as normal-not for imports) and one in phpgedview config.[config.php- $PGV_SESSION_TIME =3D "720";] (the 720 is = what I use as normal-not for imports) Use wordpad to find the variable, then = when you find it, use notepad to change it- use the Search/Replace to change = it. The config files do not have CRLF at the end of the lines, and sometimes = if you save using wordpad(which adds them) phpgedview will not read it correctly. Sometimes is will. Both of these can be changed using phpgedview. I know they can, but, I = could not get them to stay changed. I ended up starting the import process and then just before it started to process the file, changing the variable. (phpgedview seem to read the config files at least 3 times during processing. I have about 75,000 folks and I set it to about 8000 or .1 sec per = record. It does take hours to process. The PHP 5 interpreter is slow, and = phpgedview is not written for speed. Be sure you use mysql rather than the index. PhpGedview will take = minutes to just load the welcome page otherwise. =20 There is a mysql admin gui that will enable you to do the database = creation, as mysql is, like many programs from the unix/linux/C world, clumsy and = non intuitive.=20 Why did they let Dbase die?=20 Len -----Original Message----- From: php...@li... Hi David, There has already been a bug posted about this. See https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=3Ddetail&aid=3D981030&grou= p_i d=3D55456&atid=3D477079 Fixing it will require rewriting the search algorithm which calculates the relationships. --John -----Original Message----- From: php...@li... Subject: [Phpgedview-talk] Problems with Relationship Chart I'm having trouble with PGV 3.3.8 and the relationship.php page. I have discovered that my Gradfather's parents have a common ancestor many generations back and I am unable to get the second link to show up by clicking on the Find Next Path button. If however I reverse the order of the individual ID in the Person 1 and Person 2 box then the second path is shown. Is there some internal limit on how far PGV will look for alternate paths? Is there a setting I can change somewhere or have I uncovered a bug. Incase I havn't made myself clear the problem can be demonstrated on my site by following these instructions. Go to http://www.cozensweb.co.uk/phpGedView/relationship.php Enter person 1 as I0023 and person 2 as I0616 and click view. The resulting line starts from Arthur Edward Wisewell, and the next is Albert Edward Wisewell through to Thomas Stare. Now ensure that the Check relationships by marriage box is not ticked and select "Find Next Path" button. You will see "No (other) link between the two individuals could be found." If you now enter person 1 as I0616 and person 2 as I0023 and click view a different line appears starting Arthur Edward Wisewell, then Ellen Collins through to Thomas Stare. Now clicking the Find Next Path seems to work. Why if I have the IDs in the order I0023 then I0616 does the feature not work and it does when I have I0616 then I0023? Any suggestions gratefully received. Dear all. I am new to this list and I hope, there are some people who are very = good informed about some problems with PhpGedView 4.o Beta3 what I have = running on my web site. Let me explain my problem: On my WEB-Site I have some different GEDCOM-Files. In the File = "Jacobfeuerborn - Verl - Deutschland", I do not have any problems to = implement pictures. But when I will do the same in the file "Thomalla - = Landsberg - Test", for example, after I have selected the picture and I = have do all the other information into the formular, I press the button = named "Speichern" in German and, I think it is the same like "Save" in = the english version. After this, I get a blank page with response from = my browser in the bottom "Ready". On the "Jacobfeuerborn" GEDCOM, I get some text in the site wit a Link = to close this site. I miss this in some of the other GEDCOM's. What I have todo to solve this problem? I work with Version 4 Beta 3. If you already have a GEDCOM with FILE tags in it that attach the media items to the people in your GEDCOM file. Then all you should have to do is upload and import your GEDCOM and then upload the media files to the media directory. --John -----Original Message----- From: php...@li... i've just completely wiped my database and existing phpGedView and am starting fresh anew with version 3.3.8 (up from 3.2final)... the problem i am having is related to importing a 12meg gedcom... everything goes fine up to the point of importing place records... during the normal import, there are 23053 individuals, 8307 families, 176 sources, and 80 REPO (??) imported... all these within the alloted 600 seconds... then we click on the "continue importing places" button and get the following... ERROR:-1 DB Error: unknown error SQL:SELECT * FROM pgv_individuals WHERE i_file='all.ged' ORDER BY i_surname [nativecode=6 ** Error on delete of '.\MYe00190' (Errcode: 13)] Fatal error: Call to undefined function: numrows() in F:\os2httpd\lewisgen\htdocs\phpgedview\includes\functions_db.php on line 1061 so what is the problem here? is it due to a problem withmysql not being able to delete the temporary file MYe00190? i've increased the memory setting in the config from 32meg to 64meg and the filename has increased from "c" to "e"... perhaps more memory is needed to be allocated??? this error pops up within 60 seconds of clicking on the button... -- _\/ (@@) Waldo Kitty, Waldo's Place USA __ooO_( )_Ooo_____________________ telnet://bbs.wpusa.dynip.com _|_____|_____|_____|_____|_____|_____ http://www.wpusa.dynip.com ____|_____|_____|_____|_____|_____|_____ ftp://ftp.wpusa.dynip.com _|_Eat_SPAM_to_email_me!_YUM!__|_____|_____ wkitty42 -at- alltel.net --- avast! I know this may be a long shot, but here it goes... I'm looking for some advice from some PHP coders, and I know the devs here working on PhpGedView really know their stuff. I basically need advice to get me pointed in the right direction. I've tried at various forums, but no one has replied to my posts for several weeks now. I'm not going to try to ask you to do any code for me, but to point me towards what I need to learn to do what I need to do... So... If any of you gurus feel like helping to set a PHP novice in the right direction... please email me off list at ke...@dr... Thanks! Keith Conley |

Hello, How can I create or add a family (particularly, add children) to person who's spouse is unknown? So far I've been creating a dummy wife, adding children, then deleting the wife; a lengthly and annoying procedure. Is there a better way? Thanks! Import it into PAF or another Genealogy program via gedcoms, merge it, export it into another gedcom, then import into phpgedview. 1000 records are piece of cake for all of them. As you get more data, into the tens of 1000's Phpgedview is way to slow to use as a genealogy program. It takes every operation sec to a couple of minutes, maybe a top of ten, to just find & display info. Len _____ From: php...@li... [mailto:php...@li...] On Behalf Of S.C. Subject: [Phpgedview-talk] Ancestry.com and their "One World Tree" Cheers Is there anyway to integrate or reference the "One World Tree" into PGV? I have been playing on there today. With their 14 day free trial, I have been able to expand my family tree by 6 generations on several branches. I have been able to grab a massive amount of microfiche copies as well as pictures of ships my family immigrated on. My family tree went from 147 individuals largely obtained from living relatives, to 450 individuals obtained from public records and other researches I have met since joining ancestry.com It would be amazing to beable to pull data into PGV directly from the resources at ancestry.com -- ---S.C.
