For the clearing of results: normally I would say, just make a copy of
the survey and use that one live, but in the latest version (2.0.2)
there is an admin link that allows you to purge a certain response id
(if you don't have too much test answers ...). The copy still is the
easiest way, though. There is a "test" status for this kind of purposes
in the first place ...

For the inclusion in another page: see the examples subdir (eg
examples/survey.php).

Hi all,

Can someone tell me which records in the phpesp database that I can delete to reset a surveys results to 0.

Currently I have a survey called Contractors that I have been testing live but I want to set everything back before it was used?

Also I noticed that I get a php error if I try to embed the php code for the survey into a regular php page with html headers - is there a workaround for this?

An upgrade of perl triggers a php error? I don't think so ... probably other
system libs got updated as well.
But anyway: lots of these small fixes have been made in the latest released
version, I suggest you try to upgrade first. Sorry if this is a bit
inconvenient, but we can't continue searching for bugs on old version that
have probably already been fixed ...
An upgrade shouldn't be too painful though. You can even try it with a
backup database and a seperate install dir for the new version first, just
change the ini config file accordingly.

Hi,

I  used phpESP (1.8.2) for some surveys without a problem After 
upgrading Perl from 5.8.0 to 5.8.8 on a Redhat 9 installation, I am 
getting the following error message when submitting a survey., The same 
error message comes up when designing a new survey.
How can I fix this.  I have not upgraded to the latest phpESP yet.

 Some things you can check:
- do you use some kiond of proxy on that IE6.0sp2 browser?
- do you accept cookies (this is needed ...)?
- maybe some antivirus/firewall product is causing troubles for this
browser, try disabling them and try again

Hi

Thanks this wonderful application.
Now I'm using phpesp 2.0.2 on red hat linux 5 and mysql 5.1 and php5.2.5
does anyone have session issue?
In my PC there are two kinds of browsers. One of them is IE 6.0 sp2 another
is firefox2.0.

When accessing with IE6.0 sp2, management function has some troubles.
After accessing to management function, and click some menu(like create
survey), go back to login-display.

when accessing with firefox, there is no problem.

I investigated this issue but could not solve this yet.
on Debug window, there is no SESSION but there is SID and also there are
other options.
While accessing to management function, alway assigned new session ID.
session files into server side were created as far as accessing.

I deleted cache and cookie in IE browser and also into server side session
files.
(proper permissoin for php session files is set up. (var/lib/php/sessions))

Mysteriously, IE 6.0 sp2 in other persons PC is working fine.

if you have any idea to solve this issue, please advise to me.

the docu says this on that subject:

Checkboxes  	min #  	max # (not implemented yet)

but I'll doublecheck and let you know the result.

[phpesp-general] Restrict number of answers

I am trying to produce a survey asking students which courses they would like to take.

There will be a list of about 20 subjects (English, Maths etc.) each followed by a tick box.

I would like to restrict them to ticking only 4 (out of the 20 offered) boxes in total. Is there a way to do this?

It's a tar.gz file, so after uncompressing rename it to something with
".tar" at the end. Or get a better unzipper :-)

Dim Newbie Question here...

Having downloaded the package and extracted it using 7 ZIP I get a single file called phpESP-2.0.2 with a file extension of 2 File (??)  (Windows XP PC)

This does not appear to be a .php file or an executable - how do I run/ install it?

I have other PHP scripts running using PHP Version 4.3.3 & MySQL on a windows 2003 server, so I more or less know what I'm doing!

At least (1) and (2) are serious issues ... but for me things are
working just fine. What version of phpesp are you using?
Also, if possible: activate php error logging to a file and show any
errors you see in there.

I am evaluating PHPEsp for a customers that need a survey system.
First of all, my configuration is Linux Debian, Apache 2.2, Php 5.2, 
Mysql 5.0.51.
PHPEsp could be what we need but some bugs are making it useless.

By now I encountered this problems:
1 - sometimes when I delete a question or I change the question type, I 
have many php errors; I am unable to reproduce this;
2 - questions reordering doesn't work, changes are not saved;
3 - submit buttons are not localizable (in Italian in my case) because 
the application use the submit label for its logic.

Is there a fix or a patch to solve some of these ?

Besides this I've got another problem.

if someone is making the survey and did not filled in all the questions.

You get an response message. after this message the questions is quoted like
this:

 

==> the question.

 

I would like remove the ==> Symbol / characters if that is possible.

it's not really translation, but you can use other text as an option to it:

!other=othertext

I'm using phpESP with a dutch language pack.
When using the "!other" function the word other is shown in the survey.
So you have an mixed language survey. Dutch and Enlisch.
Is it possible to change the word "other" into "anders". I coun't find it int he english or dutch language pack nor the other php files. (I used Dreamweaver to search al php files without any results.)

Hi Folks,

New to the list and to php. I love this little program. I am new to learning php but I'm working my way through the language.

Could someone tell me which file is mailing out the list results. I would like to modify the emails a bit, assuming that is possible. I think a major weakness is the formatting of the results of the surveys in the emails.

Hi Eric,

you can remove the cookies (it's an config option). The sessions are
needed for the moment though ...
But you can create your own authentication module, or use basic http
authentication as auth method, or disable auth and protect it in any
oter way you see fit. See admin/phpESP.ini.php :

Hi All

Thanks for the private rsponse Mark, it seems that the problem was 
due to my using a screen reader, it didn't read the fields in the 
"change access to a survey" where you specified the number of 
respondants, once I put in a number it worked perfectly.

Another question regarding cookies and the public survey.  I tried to 
findout where to change this but to no avail. When I make the survey 
public and fill it out, it doesn't set a cookie and I can just keep 
responding. Is there some place to set this? I looked  in the 
handler.php file but it appeared that it was already set by default.

[phpesp-general] New to the llist

HiAll

My name is Geof  and I've just joined this list after installing this 
awesome little survey package. I have a couple questions that I hope 
someone can answer.

1) I have set up a respondent with username and password, but when I 
set a survey to private and try to access it from the page that it is 
on, I cant access the survey, it keeps telling me that I have either 
the wrong username, passworrd, I've been denied access or that I have 
been expired, which leads me to my next question:
2)I noticed the   expiration field for a respondant will not accept 
numbers correctly, it will take the year, month but when I put in a 
day and go back, it has set to 0

Any help or links to answer these questions would be greatly appreciated.
