Hi, you could replace those instructions with these: 1) Install tomcat: http://apache.atviraskodas.com/tomcat/tomcat-6/v6.0.16/bin/apache-tomcat-6.0.16.exe 2.) Copy JavaBridge.war (from the JavaBridge binary download) to tomcat's webapps directory 3.) Add the Java class definition (from "Java.inc") to OpenIndivio or use your own Java class, for example this one: http://php-java-bridge.sourceforge.net/doc/faq.php#simple-java-class-definition. Hi, I am new for this user group, I have tried to install Indivo (opensource for Health Records). I have followed up the instruction from: http://wiki.indivohealth.org/index.php/Setting_Up_Your_UI_Server#Configuring_PHP_to_run_the_Bridge and can't come up with the view: Confirming Your Installation Open phpinfo.php (included with the UI) in your browser. You should find a "java" section which notes that "java support" is "enabled" and that "java status" is "running". instead I only keep getting: java Directive Local Value Master Value java.class.path no value no value java.home no value no value java.library jvm.dll jvm.dll java.library.path no value no value What could be wrong with what I have done? I followed all steps what the instruction describes, please help! Thanks, -Lin --------------------------------- Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Mobile. Try it now. |

Hi,

The code that causes problem here calls function from another file which create an instance
$projectFact=new Java("depths.moodle.ProjectsFactory",$sesame);
Both files, the one that calls function and function itself have:
java_requre($mylib.jar);
Do you mean that this causes problem here? Do I have to delete this statement from called function?

Moodle@ClassLoader1 is not assignment compatible with Moodle@ClassLoader2. In other words, you
have more than one such library in your class path(s).
Please see our class loading FAQ for details.

Hi,
> My issue is, I want to out the message Exception was instantiated
what do you mean with this? $exception->getCause() contains all information you need.
You could coerce the JavaException to that it prints a stack trace which is compatible with other
PHP exceptions, but this shouldn't be default, I think.

Hi,

The error implies that I have provided illegal argument:

To all:
I'm using:
php bridge: 5.1.2
java: jdk1.6.0_02
php: 5.2.5
Here's my question i'm trying to figure out the best way to deal with
errors from the php side throw from java.
Here's an example:
Java:
public class Test{
public Test(String yippie) Throws Exception
{
if(yippie)
{
ex = new Exception("This is an exception thrown from java");
System.out.println("Exception: " + ex.getMessage());
throw ex;
}
}
}
PHP:
try{
$email_address_obj = new Java("type.Test", $email_address);
return $email_address_obj;
} catch (JavaException $ex)
{
echo "Cause: ".$ex->getCause()."\n";
echo "Message: ".(string) $ex->getMessage()."\n";
}
Trouble:
My issue is, I want to out the message Exception was instantiated
with ("This is an exception thrown from java"). However, the
Throwable::getMessage() method is not giving me anything on the php
side, but it is giving me what I want on the java side. Conversely,
the Throwable::getCause() is giving me exactly what is expected.
Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers,
Zach

Hi,
> [...]I would just like to remove the everyone execute permissions.
Java uses a fine grained access control mechanism built into the VM, which is similar to Security
Enhanced Linux or the mechanism built into Vista. However, even with SEL and Java access control
enabled, one shouldn't run Java from the super user account.
Depending on the VM version, Java creates JIT code in /tmp or in some subdir of home directory.
Therefore this directory needs execute permission.

Hi,
as most modern Mac operating systems are based on Mach + Unix emulation layer, no special build or
deploy instructions are needed.
Please note that, in order to use all features, Java 6 or Java 7 is required. The bridge still
runs under Java 1.4, but some features, such as JSR223, may not be available.

Hi: System: Mac Pro OS: 10.5.2 I copied test.php from /opt/local/share/java/tomcat5/webapps/ JavaBridge to ~/Sites/JavaBridge/test.php for this example: http://localhost/~kent/JavaBridge/test.php Works great. http://localhost:8080/JavaBridge/test.php Displays a blank page and the following error in catalina.err: > May 3, 2008 10:27:20 PM org.apache.catalina.core.ApplicationContext > log > INFO: /var/root: Permission denied Permissions on /var/root (root's login directory) were: 750, I needed to allow everyone execute permissions to /var/root: $ sudo chmod 751 /var/root to have this error go away - the test.php and the PHP/Java Bridge examples page now display. What is tomcat and JavaBridge doing that needs access to /var/root ? Here is how I installed the php/Java bridge: I installed tomcat and php via port: sudo port install php5 +fastcgi fcgi # php-cgi needed for Java/PHP bridge sudo port install tomcat5 # Appache TomCat needed for Java/PHP bridge I downloaded php-java-bridge_5-1.2.2_j2ee.zip from sf.net, unziped it and placed the JavaBridge.war file into /opt/local/share/java/tomcat5/ webapps/. I copied test.php and java/Java.inc to the ~/Sites/ JavaBridge directory. Then updated the php_exec to point to port's php- cgi: $ unzip php-java-bridge_5-1.2.2_j2ee.zip $ cd php-java-bridge_5-1.2.2_j2ee $ cp JavaBridge.war /opt/local/share/java/tomcat5/webapps/ $ cp /opt/local/share/java/tomcat5/webapps/JavaBridge/java/Java.inc ~/ Sites/JavaBridge/java/Java.inc $ cp /opt/local/share/java/tomcat5/webapps/JavaBridge/test.php ~/Sites/ JavaBridge/test.php I edited /opt/local/share/java/tomcat5/webapps/JavaBridge/WEB-INF/ web.xml and added support for my Macport installed php: <init-param> <param-name>php_exec</param-name> <param-value>/opt/local/bin/php-cgi</param-value> </init-param> Everything seems to be running, I would just like to remove the everyone execute permissions. I did look for a php/Java Bridge Macintosh 10.5 HOWTO and didn't see on using google or the sf.net mail list archive search. I still need to install this on my laptop development system. Is there a repository for system specific installs (I did look in http://php-java-bridge.sourceforge.net/pjb/installation.php and no Macintosh examples there)? If there isn't one now, I can create one. Where should I send it? --- Kent Behrends BEHR Consulting |

Hi,
I have used "is_null(java_values($javaValue))".
Here are the two functions from my code. The first one
is the one that does not works as it should work.
function getRepositoryFactory(){

$session=java_session();
$rep=$session->get($rep);
if(is_null(java_values($rep))){
try{
$rep=new Java("depths.moodle.RepositoryFactory");
$session->put("rep",$rep);
if(is_null(java_values($rep))){
throw new Exception("Could not create

}
}catch(Exception $e){); }
}

Hi,
the error message "Incorrectly typed data found for annotation element public abstract"
sounds like a bug in your application code. Or the application missing some required environment
variables.
I suspect one of the usual problems:
* class version problems (java doesn't have a proper module system); try to remove all unnecessary
jar files from the path, and/or start Java with the -verbose option to see which class versions
are loaded.
* the generated dynamic proxy needs some other JVM implementation. Please try to run your Java
application from the console. If that works, simply attach a JavaBridgeRunner to it and call your
application via that port.
The J2EE folder from the source download contains several examples which show how to use the
bridge to connect to a SOAP and EJB service.

Hello
I'm running:
************************************************************************************************
Apache 2.2.6
PHP 5.2.5
MS Windows server 2003 enterprise edition SP2
Using JavaBridge back-end version: 3.2.1b
Put the JavaBridge.war into the autodeploy folder for the J2EE application server
Copied the php-5.0-java-x86-windows.dll to my PHP/Ext directory and renamed it php_java.dll
Copied my third party .jar files to the JavaBridge.war.
Put require ("java/java.php"); at the start of my script.
************************************************************************************************
I can create third party objects and call methods/functions on them (Java is being called ok so the bridge is functioning)
but when I call a particular function I get the following stack trace:

The third party code uses java vers. 1.5.0_15.
Does this need to be referenced in some way or should the bridge automatically handle this?
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hi, I've solved this issue. It was not related with serialization problem, but with trying to access not existing java collection element from php. During my work on resolving this I have found other strange think that I can't explain. One PHP page is called multiple times, as it uses multipage presentation with limited number of items on each page. This page creates 3 java session variables on exactly the same way, first it checks if variable already exists and if not it creates it and put in session. When calling this page multiple times throgh "next page", two variables work fine (i.e. they are created only the first time) and the third one is created each time. The application works without problem, but I want to correct this as it is a time consuming process. Is there any ideas on this? Hi,
I have the error java.io.NotSerializableException that causes my application to fails. My PHP application, PHP/Java bridge and jar file used are all on the same Tomcat server, and I have removed tag <distributable> from WEB-INF/web.xml.
Can you suggest me what causes the problem here.
Tomcat error log is bellow.

Zoran

Hi, please see the java_context (); description here: http://php-java-bridge.sourceforge.net/doc/extension_mappings.php#java_context The J2EE JavaBridge.war download contains an example which shows how to access the J2EE application and session variables. Hi,
I'm developing PHP application that uses Java in the background connected through PHP/Java Bridge. I have already used java_session variable to transfer java instances between different pages, but what I need is to provide different users to access java instances through the different pages, i.e. application variables.
Is it possible to provide it with PHP/Java bridge?
Zoran

can you please set the client debug flag and run the script again? Please add the following to the
top of your script:
define ("JAVA_DEBUG", 1);
require_once ("java/Java.inc");
This might give the PHP developers additional information:
If you have access to the console, you might also run the script using the PHP cli component as
follows:
strace -ff -s 1024 php yourScriptCrashingPhp.php 2>error.log

Hi Jost, > at java.net.SocketInputStream.read(Unknown Source) > at php.java.bridge.Parser.read(Parser.java:86) > at php.java.bridge.Parser.parse(Parser.java:163) > at php.java.bridge.Request.handleRequest(Request.java:377) > at php.java.bridge.Request.handleRequests(Request.java:485) > at php.java.bridge.http.ContextRunner.run(ContextRunner.java:140) > at php.java.bridge.ThreadPool$Delegate.run(ThreadPool.java:60) > > the above thread dump is missing the trace from Java.inc. Are you sure that you use the PHP/Java > Bridge? -- Or do you still use the java.so developed for PHP4? 100% I am using JavaBridge 5.2.0. Never got the old bridge working with PHP 5.2.5 on Win32. The dump was from the command screen, when I start the JavaBridge using: java -Xmx512m -Dphp.java.bridge.default_log_level=1 -Dphp.java.bridge.base=C:\JavaBridge\ -Djava.ext.dirs=C:\ext -jar C:\JavaBridge\JavaBridge.jar SERVLET_LOCAL:8080 There is no screen output to the browser because the http request dies. > Can you please remove any "[java]" entry from your php.ini file(s) and try again? There are no java entries in my php.ini. What is very strange is that it works fine when I do $dummy = $javaObject->javaMethod(); but not when I do: $javaObject->javaMethod(); I am suspecting it is a PHP bug.
