    How i can get pgl to work in Debian Wheezy

    Same behaviour here, also with Debian Wheezy. This could be a problem with the
    init scripts. With a fresh install of pgl and default options, trying to start
    pgl I also get in /var/log/pgl/pglcmd.log:

    2012-03-24 11:51:52 WET Begin: pglcmd start
    Problematic daemon status: 4
    could not access PID file for pgld … failed!

    However the daemon starts manually ok, e.g.:

    /usr/sbin/pgld -s -l /var/log/pgl/pgld.log -d -p /var/run/pgld.pid -q 92 \
    -r 10 -a 20 /var/lib/pgl/master_blocklist.p2p

    Any suggestions?

    puf456 might be right, init-functions have been a frequent cause of problems.
    Please report the output of AFTER you tried to start pgl

    dpkg -l lsb-base
    ls /var/run/pgl*
    ps aux | grep pgl

    Mine is

    jens@bastard:~$ dpkg -l lsb-base
    Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold
    | Status=Not/Inst/Conf-files/Unpacked/halF-conf/Half-inst/trig-aWait/Trig-pend
    |/ Err?=(none)/Reinst-required (Status,Err: uppercase=bad)
    ||/ Name                            Version                         Description

    jens@bastard:~$ ls /var/run/pgl*
    /var/run/pglcmd.wd.pid  /var/run/pgld.pid
    jens@bastard:~$ ps aux | grep pgl
    root      2933  0.0  0.9  43184 20364 ?        Ss   11:53   0:01 /usr/sbin/pgld -s -l /var/log/pgl/pgld.log -d -p /var/run/pgld.pid -q 92 -r 10 -a 20 /var/lib/pgl/master_blocklist.p2p
    root      2939  0.0  0.0   4448   984 ?        SN   11:53   0:00 /bin/sh /usr/sbin/pglcmd.wd

    Then you may try to use the internal LSB init-functions. Set in
    /etc/pgl/pglcmd.conf

    LSB=""

    I just noticed that I'm currently using the internal ones, so that may explain
    why it works for me on my Debian wheezy/sid system.

    Thanks jre, that solved the problem. Looks like a LSB init problem. FYI, this
    behaviour was 1st detected on 2012-03-23 morning, with new packages from
    nightly Debian testing updates. A new lsb was in fact installed (see
    http://lists.debian.org/debian-testing-
    changes/2012/03/msg00035.html):

    On 2012-03-22 (Thursday), the following source package(s) entered testing:

    source package version previous

    lsb 3.2+Debian31 3.2-28.1

    Here's my output (after adding LSB=""):

    host:~# dpkg -l lsb-base
