Hi Georgio. Thank you for creating PeaZip. Overall, it looks fantastic.
I'm experiencing repeated issues when using PeaZip 7.0.1 with FreeCommander XE 2020 Build 810 64-bit (donor) on Windows 7 64-bit.
If you're not familiar with FreeCommander, it is an excellent Windows Explorer alternative. Here is the website: https://freecommander.com/
When using FreeCommander's context menus (which are created by Windows, and are the same as those found in Windows Explorer), PeaZip is not reliably proccessing multi-file selections.
On multiple occassions, I have had 2 or more ZIP files selected in FreeCommander, and use PeaZip's "Extract here (in new folder)" context menuitem. When I do this, between zero and all of the selected ZIP files are processed. It seems random as to how many are processed.
Similarly, if I select 2 or more files in FreeCommander, and use PeaZip's "Add to archive" context menuitem, between zero and all the selected files are shown in PeaZip when it opens. Sometimes, PeaZip will display an error instead, with an option to Abort. I apologize that I don't have the exact error string at this time. Again, the behavior seems random.
I have run many tests, and I have reproduced the issue over a dozen times. However, if I follow the exact same steps to reproduce, the issues only happen a small percentage of the time.
The risk of data loss is real: If you think files have been added to a ZIP file, but they have not, deleting the non-zipped originals will result in data loss.
I'm never in Windows Explorer, so I don't have enough attempts logged in Windows Explorer to see if the issue is present there as well. I have tried reproducing the issue in Windows Explorer several times, and each time, the issue did not occur. That said, I've experienced PeaZip working properly in FreeCommander many times in a row. In other words, I don't have sufficient data to know if this problem exists in Windows Explorer as well.
If you can look into this, and hopefully fix it, I will greatly appreciate it.
Best of regards to you, and thank you again for creating PeaZip.
Okay, I performed some more tests. I don't think it has anything to do with FreeCommander. I experience the exact same problems in Windows Explorer for Win7 64-bit.
I tried it with a single zip file selected, as well as multiple zip files selected, and PeaZip didn't unzip anything when I used PeaZip's context menus within Windows Explorer.
I found that manually opening PeaZip, and then closing it, and then trying the context menus again, things would work. I wonder if it happens every time the system is rebooted, and before the user ever opens PeaZip manually.
Hello, in release 7.1.1 I've updated the code handling Windows context menu actions.
Does the new release resolve (or mitigate) the issue in your case?
