When you try to archive multiple files using the gzip compression without using "TAR before", you get an error message for each file, explaining that gzip without TAR can only use one input. That's expected. But when you select "Add each object to a separate archive", these errors should not appear, as you only have one input per archive.
I have the same problem with PeaZip in batch processing (Linux + Windows). Individual files (e.g. File.pdf.gz --.gz; .bz2; .xz) do not require a previous TAR file. I use Bandizip (Windows) for compressing multiple gz-files. There are no problems here. In my opinion, it is a bug in PeaZip.
Thank you for reporting the issue. I've replicated the bug on my test machines and I'll fix it for the next update.
