PasswordSafe 3.04 fixes an annoying bug that crept into the just-released version 3.03: Edits to password entry's Notes field would be lost if the "hide notes" feature was enabled. Although a workaround is possible (by disabling this feature), we felt that this was sufficiently annoying to warrant a quick response. Version 2.x is stable and should be used for protecting real passwords. Version 3.0 has several major changes, including a new security schema. This is to announce the second beta release of PasswordSafe 3.0.

All of the major problems uncovered in the first beta have been addressed, except a problem with win98SE and ME, which I cannot duplicate. Most importantly, a security implementation flaw on non-XP platforms has been resolved.... read more

This new version has some nice new features:
- Entry creation time is now stored.
- URL and Autotype moved from Notes to their own fields.
- System Tray icon now indicated if database is locked or not.
- System Tray menu now has a list of recently used entries - a convenient shortcut to common entries. - Add and Edit dialog box now have "simple" and "detailed" modes.
- Database format is changed to use newer encryption algorithm (Twofish replaces Blowfish). Also, the integrity of the database is now checked.... read more

A new version, 0.5, of the Java port of PasswordSafe is now available for download (https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=41019&package_id=164907&release_id=375035) for Linux, Mac and Win32 platforms.

This is mostly a bug-fix release (but some of the bugs were pretty nasty):

• Fixes for compatibility with new 2.14 files
• Completely rewritten XML import/export handling fixing numerous bugs
• Completely rewritten plaintext import/export handling
• New Unix script launching (much more reliable and now double-clickable) - Many thanks to Axel Schwarzer for this
• Edit dialog now resizable and correctly handles long notes fields (and has better layout management on Mac & Linux)
• Fix to "Show Password" button to toggle show/hide label
• Fix to password generation bugs when no password options were set
• Website launching fixed on Mac (and now broken on Linux... leave it with me)
• New tree items default group to enclosing leaf

A new version, 0.4, of the Java port of PasswordSafe is now available for download (https://sourceforge.net/project/shownotes.php?release_id=365209) for Linux, Mac and Win32 platforms.

This version fixes numerous annoying bugs from 0.3, in particular:
* Tree view now displays labels correctly
* Prompts for save on exit (if file has been modified) - thanks to Neil Greenwood for good work here
* Active view remembered on exit (tree/list)
* Tray icon displays correctly on Linux
* Preference settings are immediately applied on modificate (rather than waiting for restart)

PasswordSafeSWT 0.3 - the Java port of PasswordSafe - is now available for download (https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=41019&package_id=164907&release_id=359730) for Linux, Mac and Win32 platforms. This version is capable of reading and writing 1.x and 2.x file formats making it broadly compatible with the native Windows version. It is still early days for this release and all feedback is very welcome. On CVS, the code is under pwsafe/Java/PasswordSafeSWT. Thanks to Glen (https://sourceforge.net/users/glen_a_smith/) for his work on this.
