PasswordSafe's git repository moved to GitHub

Hi,

This is to announce the transfer of PasswordSafe's official git source code repository from SourceForge to GitHub.

The project's URL on GitHub is https://github.com/pwsafe/pwsafe

You're all welcome to fork the repository and send pull requests for any fixes or features. Contact me directly if you'd like commit rights to the main repository.

I haven't yet decided how to phase out the SourceForge repository. For now I've revoked all update rights to avoid accidental commits.... read more

PasswordSafe 3.33's out for Windows, 0.93 for Linux

Also, the Yubico functionality's been merged into the main version, no need for a separate build. Other than that, the usual set of bugfixes and incremental improvements.

Enjoy,

Rony

Current Status

I see I've missed a couple of updates on the project news page, so:
The current version of PasswordSafe for Windows is 3.29
The current version for Linux is 0.8 Beta.
There's a separate version that works with Yubico's YubiKey to provide 2-factor authentication: 3.29Y.

First Linux Beta release

Hi,

This is to announce the first port of PasswordSafe to Linux.
The core functionality is built upon the same code base as the proven Windows version, so the databases are fully portable across platforms.
The user interface, though, is new, built upon wxWidgets, and still has a few rough edges.

You can download the .deb file for Ubuntu and Debian from
https://sourceforge.net/projects/passwordsafe/files/Linux-BETA/
as well as some installation instructions in the README.LINUX file.... read more

New YubiKey-enabled version of PasswordSafe - 3.16.2Y

Password Safe is a password database utility. Users can keep their passwords securely encrypted on their computers. A single Safe Combination unlocks them all.

Release 3.16.2Y is the same as 3.16, with a coiuple of minor bugfixes, and with support for the YubiKey authentication token (http://yubico.com/products/yubikey/).

YubiKey is a USB authentication device that sends a different authentication key each time it's activated. This provides a convenient alternative to constantly typing in a passphrase for heavy users of PasswordSafe. To use, just "associate" your YubiKey with your PasswordSafe database, using the new Manage->YubiKey dialog. For more details, please refer to the online help.
Currently, support for this device is implemented in a separate PasswordSafe package, 3.16.2Y. Your feedback will determine if and how this will be merged into the main product.... read more

Call for testers - two pre-release versions of PasswordSafe

Hi,

We've been working on a couple of versions of PasswordSafe, and as the changes "under the hood" have been substantial, I'd be happy if any users and/or developers would give these a spin before I formally release them, hopefully in acouple of weeks:

  1. Version 3.15Beta: This release has many changes to support compilation on other platforms, most notably Linux/Unix. While I've tested it quite a bit, the more people who can try it out under different version of Windows, the better the chance of catching any bugs I may have inadvertantly introduced in the process. Other than the above change, several bug have been fixed, and a couple of new features added, the most notable being support for sites that require you to type a subset of your password (e.g., the first, fourth, seventh and ninth character). See the release notes for more details.
This version may be dowloaded from:
    http://passwordsafe.sf.net/tmp/3.15Beta/pwsafe-3.15Beta-bin.zip
    or
    http://passwordsafe.sf.net/tmp/3.15Beta/pwsafe-3.15Beta.exe
(add .sig to the above to download the gpg signature files)... read more

Java version moved to a new project: jpwsafe

Hi,

The Java version of PasswordSafe has been moved to a SourceForge project of its own:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/jpwsafe
The project's administrators are roxon and myself.

This should make it a bit easier to maintain both the C++ and Java code bases. Please drop me a note if you'd like to join the jpwsafe project development effort.

Cheers,

Rony

PasswordSafe 3.11 released

Hi,

I'm sorry to announce that release 3.11 has some serious issues, and should NOT be downloaded and installed.
To make matters worse, SourceForge is having some issues with their file release system, so I cannot remove this release or make 3.11.1 available for download yet.
Once SF's release system is back up, I will withdraw 3.11 and release 3.11.1, which will address the problems people have uncovered in 3.11.... read more
