Hi, I've set up a page with thoughts on the above, and would be grateful for any comments, suggestions, etc.: http://tinyurl.com/pwsv4draft Tentative plan is to start working on this in a month or so, with a beta release towards the end of the year. Thanks, Rony -- Ubi dubium, ibi libertas (where there is doubt, there is freedom) |

Hi, As the title indicates, PasswordSafe's code repository has been converted to (and adapted for) git. Currently I'm leaving both repositories open, but note that I'll be releasing official builds from git from now on. As of now, all commits to the Subversion repository will be manually merged into git by me. In a few days, assuming nothing major pops up, I'll change the status of the Subversion repo to read-only, meaning that commits to the svn repo will be rejected. Links to the git repository can be found at https://sourceforge.net/p/passwordsafe/git-code/ci/master/tree/. Note that all Subversion tags and branches have been imported to git. I've found Git to be a *lot* friendlier with regards to merges, and overall more fun, once I've gotten over the learning curve. Let me know if you any issues/suggestions/comments with the switch. Cheers, Rony |

Hi, You're receiving this message because you're subscribed to a PasswordSafe related mailing list. If you're subscribed to more than one such list, you may receive this more than once - if so, my apologies. As you can see, PasswordSafe has been nominated as a candidate for July's project-of-the-month on SourceForge. If you can take a minute or two to vote for PasswordSafe, I'd be very grateful. Even better - forwards this request to your friends as well. What's in it for me, you ask? Well, being project of the month means more exposure, which means more people will download it, install and run it, and some of those will have suggestions that would help make the next version even better. That, for me, at least, is what's best about free and Open Source software - suggestions and contributions from users and developers over the years have made PasswordSafe much more useful *for me* than I could possibly have done by myself. So please hop over to http://twtpoll.com/xmrzlp and vote for your favorite password manager :-) - see below for details. Thanks! Rony ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Chris Tsai <ct...@sl...> Date: Wed, Jun 5, 2013 at 4:35 PM Subject: July SourceForce Project of the Month Ballot To: sfcommunity <com...@so...> Dear SourceForge project admin, Your project has been selected to be on the ballot for the July SourceForge project of the Month. This vote will be conducted on TwtPoll, and will run until June 26th. The blog post linking to this vote is at http://sourceforge.net/blog/potm-vote-201307/ and the vote itself is at http://twtpoll.com/xmrzlp (Yes, voters will need to have a Twitter account to vote. This is the only way, so far, that we have found to keep the vote honest.) The project of the month gets listed at the top of the front page of the SourceForge.net website. This, in turn, will be linked to an interview about your project which will remain on our site, and linked from your project page, in perpetuity, in which you can talk about your project, your community, and so on. Interviews can be conducted by email, or irc, as you prefer, and depending on the timezones of various participants. You'll also be listed on http://sourceforge.net/potm Thanks so much for being part of the SourceForge community, and may be best project win! Hi, As you can see, we're going to get a little free advertisement next week. As a result, I'm planning to release 3.31 tomorrow, May 11th. Please make an effort to finish any work in progress you may have by tonight, so that it can be incorporated in 3.31 or the corresponding Linux version (0.91). Projects are chosen based on a variety of considerations, such as recent releases, interesting blog activity, or other related things. Also, since I know that several of you have more than one project, I've listed all the featured projects below (in no particular order - the list is random order on the front page), so that you'll know which one, and who you'll be sharing the page with. If you'd like to have a guest blog post this week, please submit something to com...@so... for consideration. Thanks for catching this! It seems that Microsoft released VisualStudio 2012 without XP support, and added it in their first update, only to break it in the second! I've found and applied a workaround for this. Please download the program again and let me know if this indeed fixes the problem. Hi, I've uploaded a pre-release version of PasswordSafe 3.31, plus the .po files with the new strings for translation. Schedule: I'd like to release this version around the middle of May. *Testers: *Are welcome to download either the installer program or a zip file with the binaries from http://pwsafe.org/tmp/3.31pre/pwsafe-3.31pre.exe or http://pwsafe.org/tmp/3.31pre/pwsafe-3.31pre-bin.zip respectively. *Translators: *The files may be found in the directory that DK set up, which also includes tools and instructions for those interested in making their own dlls for testing: https://sourceforge.net/projects/passwordsafe/files/Translation%20Tools%20for%20Windows%20%28MFC%29%20Version/ (http://tinyurl.com/6fgecno) The new files are under the 3.31pre folder in the above. I'd also like to release the corresponding Linux version at the same time. Please contact me if you'd like to work on the translation for this, and don't know where to find the .po files. Hi, This is to announce the release of PasswordSafe version 3.30 for Windows, as well as a new Beta release, 0.9, for Linux. This is a maintenance release, fixing a few minor issues, as described below. Thanks to Matt, shivak7, suthakar123, nsaipraveen, sauravg and pm_kan for their help in this release, and to pm_kan, Karlo, Bjorne and mniklas for updating the Russian, German, Swedish and Polish translations. Thanks also to all the users who have provided bug reports, suggestions, and the occasional donation... New Features for 3.30 ===================== [689] It's now possible to change the r/w state of a database when unlocking it. Thanks to Jeff for the suggestion. Bugs fixed in 3.30 ================== [3556730] In Add/Edit dialog, clicking Apply no longer disables the OK button. An asterisk (*) is displayed in the title bar when the entry's modified and Apply's not clicked upon. Thanks to shivak7 for the fix. [3539347] An empty diamond icon is now updated to a full one when an entry is dragged into it. Thanks to nsaipraveen for the fix. [3537861] An off-by-one issue with expiration dates has been fixed by suthakar123. [1066] Default changed: 'Browse to URL' does not copy password to clipboard by default. Although convenient, this is a security issue if the user isn't expecting it. Also show correct screen in Security Options help. [1065] Don't hide notes in Add/Edit dialog box when changing field focus if user chose not to. [1063] Intermediate backups also work correctly when relative path to database is specified on command line. Thanks to Matt for tracking this down. [353] Easy-to-read option now respected in Generate Password screen. [] Update ListView immediately when an entry's field has been changed. Hi, I've uploaded a pre-release version of PasswordSafe 3.30, plus the .po files with the new strings for translation. This is a stabilization/bugfix release, no new user-visible features have been added, so that the changes to the translations should be minor. Hi, SourceForge has re-organized their site (again), and as part of this, they've moved our project's Subversion repository. The new URL for the repository is svn+ssh://US...@sv.../p/passwordsafe/code/trunk/pwsafe/pwsafe where 'USER' is your SourceForge username. Unfortunately, this is a dump/restore of the old repository, so that a 'relocate' of your working copy won't work. You need to checkout this repo from scratch. Please make sure to switch to the new repository before committing. The old repository still works, but I won't be building from it any more. Sorry about the inconvenience. Cheers, Rony |

Hi, Seems like SourceForge managed to botch the svn repository migration while upgrading the project to their new site. The 'code' link from the website ( https://sourceforge.net/p/passwordsafe/code/) indicates an empty svn repository, but if you try to checkout the repo via 'svn checkout svn://svn.code.sf.net/p/passwordsafe/code/trunkpasswordsafe-code', you'll get something even worse - a very outdated copy of the repository. There's also a link to a Git repository that is only slightly less out of date - this is an attempt of mine to check out git, and is not the 'official' PasswordSafe repository. For the meanwhile, the current repository should be used: https://passwordsafe.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/passwordsafe/trunk/pwsafe/pwsafe . Hopefully SourceForge will straighten this out soon. Thanks, Rony -- Ubi dubium, ibi libertas (where there is doubt, there is freedom) |

Hi, It's been a while but packages for the above have finally been built and uploaded. The packages are built for Debian 6.05 and Ubuntu 12.04, both on 32 bit architectures (*). The deb files can be downloaded from https://sourceforge.net/projects/passwordsafe/files/Linux-BETA/0.8.0/ Thanks to sauravg, mniklas and pm_kan for their help on this version. This release fixes quite a bit of the issues reported for 0.7, as well as implementing some of the newer features of the Windows version, notable named password policies. Hi, I just upgraded from 3.24 (plus my enhancements) to 3.29 on RH5 (built from source.) It was nice to see that my enhancements (UsePrimarySelectionForClipboard and enabling the "Go" button) have been included and are working. Thanks! But I see one big issue: The URL when doing "Browse to URL" or using the "Go" button is wrong. Specifically, the current directory is prepended to the entry's URL. So for example, for SomeShop.com I get "/home/rader/https://someshop.com/login.asp" instead of just "https://someshop.com/login.asp" Is this a fixed issue, a known issue, or should I investigate/fix?? steve -- PS: "PasswordSafe (linux) v0.8 (exported) beta". Really? I've been using pwsafe on linux almost daily for over two and a half years. Isn't it kinda silly and confusing to have a divergent version--especially a .0 one? |

Note that the English help text isn't quite ready yet, this will be announced separately. Schedule: I'd like to release this version towards the end of June.
