bug w/ on screen keyboard beep feedback: if you click on a letter while mouse is moving, it does not get added to the password but you do get a beep, letting you think you've entered that letter. Current work around is to keep one eye on the letter counter.

I can confirm this bug using windows v3.42.01. If you click on a letter while the mouse is moving (not something I think most people would do), the letter does not get added to the passsord, whether 'Play sound on key press' is checked or not. The keyboard letter will simulate the keypress and if key press sound is enabled, it will also beep, but no letter gets added to the password and the passphrase character count does not increment by 1.

Simple workaround - stop moving the mouse when wanting to click on the character you want :-)

Rather than "...get a beep, letting you think you've entered that letter", the only way to determine if the character has been added is to note that the character count has increased.

Difficult to test but I have tried and, using the buttons I have found on other dialogs or property pages, the mouse click is ignored (without any beep), if the mouse is moving. I suspect that this is a "feature" of the Microsoft Foundation Class environment used to build the user interface for Password Safe.

I would suggest closing this BR as "can't/won't fix as outside of scope of the Password Safe project".

    I agree with John.

What if the beep was instead tied to a change in the "Passphrase character count"? I realize that this wouldn't acknowledge modifier keypresses, but I think it would be better than the current issue, which I've also experienced.
