No

When a read-only file is opened in TEditView or TRichEditView, it can be edited, as the class does not have concept of read-only files (unlike TCoolEdit). When attempting to save the edit file, it shows error message "Unable to open the document" and then the application crashes with an unhandled exception.

Note: this looks like a regression in the trunk. The same test works fine in 6.44 and 7.0.

This issue should be fixed by the generalized fix for "Problems with handling of read-only files in TCoolEdit" [bugs:#646] implemented in [r8945]. Now when trying to save over a read-only file, instead the SaveAs functionality is invoked.

@jogybl, you need to use your superpower as an administrator and move this ticket to bugs. :-)
