Hello! There's been some discussion lately regarding how to make use of the materials for owfs. It happens that I've gotten the latest (numbered release not from CVS) to build on a test Slackware-11.0 system. It built properly without too many complaints. And since there were also some questions concerning the man pages, I was able to have one of them display properly as well. To launch the whole business I updated a pair of a rc.* scripts I originally created about the time the owserver program was first written and tested, Currently I am getting the predicted responses from using the owserver and owhttpd program to talk to chrome here on this laptop. Now obviously all of you are wondering about what is running there, there's a DS9097U connected to two DS18B20 parts. Both are telling me the temperature in the apartment, except that the first is reading out the correct one, about 82 degrees and the second one is presenting 80 degrees. This is using the parasitic mode. Eventually that will become part of a permanent system but right now they are wired to a bread board and the DS9097U using ordinary telephone wire, including the connector. For those of you who are also curious it will also include a DS1971 for seemingly routine information storage and a time keeping can to be chosen later. Eventually the whole business will be sitting on a perf board of the type that's available by the kiloton from RS (Radio Shack), as is the bread board, but I needed to confirm for myself that it will work. So far it does. However why is only one device being shown on the alarm function? I've not tried to set any but it would be interesting to see what does happen. ----- Gregg C Levine gre...@gm...
