Wondering what other clinics are doing regarding this workflow:
Patient is in with physician who orders imaging. (E.g. ultrasound)
The eform for the ultrasound is completed and printed for the patient.
Patient presents the paper to the front desk currently so that the imaging
study can be booked. Paper copy goes with patient as a backup to present to
the imaging department.
The front desk may not get to the booking at that time, and once booked
requires the patient to be notified, and the date of the appointment to be
recorded. (In the paper world, the original requisition has that
information written on it and stored in the paper chart)
Essentially, the front desk needs a summary sheet of all their work that
needs to be done, and ability to check it off when it is done, and the
ability to record that information as having been done in the patient's
chart. (We all know that not infrequently patient's phone back having
forgotten when the appointment is)
We thought of using the ticker system and creating a new "provider/user"
which might be labeled "appointments".
I.e. at the point of the appointment having been made, the ticker is entered
on the patient's chart with the date and time and directed at the
appointments.
Once the patient has been informed, the ticker could be completed.
Unfortunately once any ticker is completed, the details of that ticker or
removed from the patient's chart as well.
Can anyone share their work flow already established?
