Hi Matthias, no, I don't think someone is working on it. I also think this is an Opensync problem: The Opensync engine should understand that Gnokii does not support notes and todos and therefore not request todo and note info from Kdepim in the first place. Of course if in the mean time you want to provide a patch for a Kdepim configuration option to disable notes and todos this is fine with me.... Markus matthias jahn schrieb: > Am Donnerstag, 8. Just for the record: After a long IRC session with Daniel (thanks a lot!) we found two problems: * Of course, when syncing contacts, for the gnokii plugin, no "./configure --disable-contact" should be used. Doh! * If the system has notes and todos in it, syncing will not work properly. Also, the option "--filter-objtype note --filter-objtype todo" has no effect. We therefore (locally) disabled the syncing of notes and todos directly in the kdepim source code. This is a relatively big patch, because lots of things have to be commented out. If you are interested in this patch, please contact me. The good news is that with those changes applied, it now works very well. Hi everyone, recently I tried to sync the Nokia 6230 of a friend of mine with his calendar and contact data of KOrganizer. We used the newest CVS versions of opensync, the kdepim plugin, the gnokii plugin and gnokii itself. The sync seems to work partly (some objects appear on the phone, some don't), but then suddenly, every single contact and event is rejected with the message "Unable to convert change" and the sync fails. Logs are attached. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! Markus |

Hi! First of all: thanks for the OpenSync project---finally I have hope that I will soon be able to sync my phone with KDE PIM :). Right now, though, I have some problems. I am running SuSE 10.0, but have removed all OBEX and SyncML stuff that came with SuSE. I have compiled in the last two days - opensync, multisync-cli, file-sync from SVN - libsoup from CVS - wbxml2-0.9.0 with libsyncml patch - libsyncml from SVN (configure.ac shows 0.4.0) - syncml-plugin from SVN Following the syncml-guide instructions, I set up a group with one file-sync and one syncml-obex-client member. Here are my config files: Member 1: <config> <bluetooth_address></bluetooth_address> <bluetooth_channel></bluetooth_channel> <interface>0</interface> <identifier>PC Suite</identifier> <version>1</version> <wbxml>1</wbxml> <username></username> <password></password> <type>5</type> <usestringtable>0</usestringtable> <onlyreplace>0</onlyreplace> <recvLimit>10000</recvLimit> <maxObjSize>750000</maxObjSize> <allowLateStatus>0</allowLateStatus> <noPendingReplies>0</noPendingReplies> <contact_db>Contacts</contact_db> <calendar_db>Calendar</calendar_db> </config> Member 2: <config> <path>/home/plesser/source/sync/test</path> <recursive>FALSE</recursive> </config> Connecting my E70 by USB cable and telling it to connect in PC Suite Mode, I get source/sync> sudo syncml-obex-client -u Found 4 USB OBEX interfaces Interface 0: Manufacturer: Nokia Product: Nokia E70 Interface description: SYNCML-SYNC Interface 1: Manufacturer: Nokia Product: Nokia E70 Interface description: PC Suite Services Interface 2: Manufacturer: Nokia Product: Nokia E70 Interface description: SYNCML-DM Interface 3: Manufacturer: Nokia Product: Nokia E70 Interface description: SYNCML-SYNC-CLIENT-INIT I thus used interface 0 above. I tried without WBXML, but that failed. When I now try synching (must use sudo for device access), the E70 becomes active, starts the PC Suite, and shows "Connecting" for a long time. After some while a timeout occurs and the phone goes back to normal. msynctool likewise spews out some text at the beginning and then gets stuck, before it too terminates with a timeout: source/sync> sudo msynctool --configdir /home/plesser/.opensync --sync phonefile Synchronizing group "phonefile" The previous synchronization was unclean. Traces are attached. The str archive has syncml, the otr archive opensync traces. Could anyone give me hints on what the problem might be? At the same time, a rather unrelated question: when trying to compile the kdepim plugin, I get stuck in configure with checking for KDE... libraries /opt/kde3/lib, headers /opt/kde3/include checking if UIC has KDE plugins available... no configure: error: you need to install kdelibs first. I have kdelibs3 and kdelibs3-devel from SuSE 10.0 installed (v. 3.4.2). What am I missing? Thanks in advance for any help! Armin, Thanks for your reply. I understand that this process can cause problems if a file can be converted into two different types of entries but this conversion does happen when handling changes today. I have created calendar and contacts entries as files and had them converted correctly, with no problems. *My* problem is that this process does NOT occur when doing comparisons -- it only occurs when handling changes. I think that whatever the process is for implementing changes, the SAME process needs to happen when doing comparisons. Otherwise we see incorrect conflicts. In the tests I have run (between file and kdepim formats), the problem is that the file data is not converted AT ALL during slow-sync comparison (it is not being converted to the wrong XML vformat datatype -- it is just not being converted at all). You can be installed same time libopenobex-1.0-0 and libopenobex1. Then kdebluetooth use libopenobex-1.0-0 and libsyncml libopenobex1 so I think there isn't problem. I have switched over to Kontact and tried KDEPIM because of the timezone issues with Evolution. Everything works fine except I've noticed one thing -- recurring appointments do show as recurring on the phone. Only the first meeting in the series shows on the phone. Is this a known issue with KDEpim? Norm |

Hi list, i have tweaked my debian packages a little so that they in theory can install with Ubuntu (untested). Could some of the Ubuntu users on the list test it? Packages are at: http://www.in.fh-merseburg.de/~jahn/ Thanx.. |

After applieng the patch synchronizing went fine, but I allways get the following error at the end and the data is not synced between evo2 and my mobile: All clients sent changes or error All conflicts have been reported *** glibc detected *** msynctool: munmap_chunk(): invalid pointer: 0xa7866a1b *** Aborted I run glibc-2-4 and gcc-4.1.1 I tried to recompile without any CLFAGS set but that didnt change anything. Any ideas ? |

Hi, now that I can use the syncml-plugin again I've tried to sync my kdepim data with my N70 phone. After reading data and resolving conflicts msynctool hangs and after a while spits out a couple of error messages: [...] All conflicts have been reported xmlEscapeEntities : char out of range xmlEscapeEntities : char out of range xmlEscapeEntities : char out of range Member 2 of type kdepim-sync committed all changes. Error writing entry 1VJwTiLyE4 to member 1: Timeout while waiting for a reply to message "COMMIT_CHANGE" Mapping Write Error: Timeout while waiting for a reply to message "COMMIT_CHANGE" [...some more similar errors...] Member 2 is of type kdepim-sync, member 1 is of type syncml-obex-client (Nokia N70). Kind regards, Felix |

I've found some libsyncml related libraries in /usr/local/lib which seemd to disturb the packages I've grabbed from Matthias Jahn. After removing the (old) libs from /usr/local/lib everything seems to work fine! (I didn't get a 'missing node' error either, but that might be because of a firmware update on my N70.) Thank you very much, Felix |
