Hello all, It's been a while since I've had the chance to read or post/reply and I've got a few questions. Let me start with what I have and then get to what I'd like to do. I run Evolution(the client only) on Linux Fedora. I have a nokia 6620(bluetooth) phone with the usb cable and a serial cable. What I would like to do is sync my calendar and contacts. Question, what do I need and how do I start? Thanks __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! While waiting for approval of the original message, I tried the reverse sync: I deleted the vcf-file and created an adressbook-entry on the pda. Syncing this entry to the pc works just fine... Maybe this points somewhere? Attached are the transmissions of the two cases. As you can see, in the above case the vcf is send in the other case there is nothing. So I'm guessing the error is on the server-side... |

Hi Francesc, it looks like a problem which I also experienced with my 6230. Could you try the attached patch against libsyncml (apply with -p1)? I'm currently working on the 6230 support for myself. There are some other problems pending but it would be interesting if the patch also works with your phone. Best regards, Jan |

Hi guys, I'm due for a new phone and I was just wondering which if any are the best phones to use with open sync. I basically want to sync to-do , address book, calendar and possibly email if its there with kde (kontact) and / gnome (evolution). basically my aim is to purchase a phone based on syncability rather than try to jump through hoops with a phone that isn't open or known to work. kind regards Andrew |

Hi. I reported this some weeks ago. I just checked out the code and tried again. I send the traces I hope it helps to fix it. The phone is a nokia 6230i. syncml-obex-plugin works the very first time the phone boots. The second one the phone shows the message "Abandoning syncronization" for many minutes. The plugin warns : Member 2 of type syncml-obex-client had an error while disconnecting: Timeout while waiting for a reply to message "DISCONNECT" If there is something else I can try let me know. |

This is my current config but phone does not connect. I've followed the instructions at http://a925.albatorsk.com/ to connect the a925 via bluetooth. After lots of trying I think the a925 has a dodgy obex client, can't find any info about it or by using syncml-obex-client -u .... just get no usb obex interfaces found! I've attached the relative output from lsusb -v if anyone can tell me anymore from that but I can not find a syncml service ... :-( Can anyone tell me how to complete this http-server config. Hi. I'm trying to sync my T-Mobile MDA Pro (HTC Universal / WM5) using Synthesis AG's SyncML Client (http://www.synthesis.ch/dl_client.php?lang=e) I compiled everyting according to the guide but used the newest libsoup version (2.2.94 / two days old) because I have no gnome installed and the svn version requires it for autoconf... For starters I createt a "mdafile" group with a file-sync member (1) and a syncml-http-server member (2). The two configurations for the members are: <config> <path>/home/torsten/kdesync</path> <recursive>FALSE</recursive> </config> and <config> <username></username> <password></password> <url></url> <port>9999</port> <usestringtable>0</usestringtable> <onlyreplace>0</onlyreplace> <recvLimit>0</recvLimit> <maxObjSize>0</maxObjSize> <contact_db>contact</contact_db> <calendar_db>event</calendar_db> <note_db>note</note_db> </config> I start the sync with: msynctool --sync mdafile --wait When I sync with a empty data dir, everything works fine, but when I put a single vcf-3.0-file exportet from kde-contakt into it I get the following: torsten@jack:~/kdesync$ msynctool --sync mdafile --wait Synchronizing group "mdafile" received contact dsession Member 1 of type file-sync just connected Member 2 of type syncml-http-server just connected All clients connected or error Received a entry Julia_Boppert.vcf without data from member 1. Hi, I am a novice in Linux and want to download & test OpenSync. I downloaded the libraries and trying to setup myself on a linux box. I would appreciate any information that would help me in setting up the server. I have a few questions to start with 1. I have a Belkin Bluetooth device, can I use it for OpenSync and is there anything specific I need to do during configuration of this device (like drivers, config parameters etc)? 2. I have a Red Hat Linux version 4 (Enterprise) , update 2. Is this a good flavor of Unix to have everything compiled for the first time? Is there any other version that has built OpenSync successfully? 3. What are the basic plugins that I would need for syncing Address Book and Calendars [apart from the following] using OpenSync: - OpenObex (USB) - libopensync-0.18.tar.gz - multisync-0.90.18.tar.gz - KdePim Plugin Thanks in Advance Naveen Kaushik __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? (http://libsyncml.opensync.org/wiki/obex-guide) <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< First you should connect your device with the usb cable. Then make sure that the lsusb command lists your device. Now we can enumerate the interface available on your device. To do this type (as root!): syncml-obex-client -u This should generate some output like this: Found 2 USB OBEX interfaces Interface 0: Manufacturer: Nokia Product: Nokia 6680 Interface description: SYNCML-SYNC Interface 1: Manufacturer: Nokia Product: Nokia 6680 Interface description: PC Suite Services It is important that you have an interface with the description "SYNCML-SYNC". This is the interface we are going to use. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Matthias |

I'm almost there .... :-) msynctool --sync maassync Synchronizing group "maassync" The previous synchronization was unclean. Slow-syncing Member 2 of type sunbird-sync just connected Member 1 of type syncml-obex-client had an error while connecting: Link Error Member 2 of type sunbird-sync just disconnected All clients have disconnected The sync failed: Unable to connect one of the members Error synchronizing: Unable to connect one of the members Can you please remind me again how to trace and/or diagnose the error? There are several settings in the syncml-obex-client plugin for connection to may motorola a925 ... any suggestions for interface identifier version I don't know if wbxml is enabled or not, but don't think so! Couldn't find out by myself... I've installed libopensync and some plugins in Gentoo (ebuilds downloaded from bugs.gentoo.org), but I've got no msynctool or GUI. Should I install multisync too? Thanks. Leonardo F. Fontenelle x86, Gentoo Linux, Tungsten E & E2 |

Hi Pawel, Pawel Kot schrieb: > Gnokii does support todos. Perhaps for not all phone types. I think it's the gnokii-sync plugin which does not support todos and notes yet (so it's irrelevant if gnokii itself supports them). Take care Markus |

i am proud to announce that libopensync-plugin-syncmlclient and libsyncmlclient are new to my debian/ubuntu repro. You should be able now to sync to instances of opensync. (One with a syncml-http-server as member and the other with the syncml-client.) I think thats all .... all plugins are now in ........ lets hunt some bugs ;-) todo: - find all packaging bugs(there are more than i like) - find opensync and plugin bugs - start thinking about usability ( optimise needed steps: starting with installation of the packages to sync with syncml over http-server for example. ) ....and so on __ Matthias ======opensync svn debian repro========== Debian: deb http://www.in.fh-merseburg.de/~jahn/ sid main deb-src http://www.in.fh-merseburg.de/~jahn/ sid main Ubuntu Dapper Drake: (Opensync and additionally needed Debian Unstable Backports for Ubuntu Dapper Drake) deb http://www.in.fh-merseburg.de/~jahn/ dapper main deb-src http://www.in.fh-merseburg.de/~jahn/ dapper main |

I already did something like this during debugging kdepim... this needs only some cleanup and a xml port Matthias |
