I'll be writing to gnokii mailing list again. Markus: > I understand that all of this may be frustrating for you, but phone > support is not one of Linux strengths at the moment. Accessing the Internet with Linux was terribly difficult in my experience. Linux wouldn't see my modem in any way, and two years ago I was even more ignorant than I'm now with computers. But the problem was brilliantly worked out thanks to the patient, step-by-step help of Jacques Goldberg and Marvin Stodolsky at http://linmodems.org/ . Thanks to their support I could finally report a detailed procedure that was useful to others: http://linmodems.org/cgi-bin/ezmlm-cgi?1:mss:23820:200607:bnckpnojnhaeglkcofeb . As for phones, it was quite hard to make my Nokia 6630 work as modem, but at least it was done: see: http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?t=5016 . Catching and sending email was very difficult and user-unfriendly with Emacs-Gnus, but at last it is possible to use it (as I'm doing now) thanks to Gnus manual and the help from gnu.emacs.gnus newsgroup... ... and so on. We all know that all is possible in Open Source world *with* other users' help, nothing or almost nothing is possible *without* it. Regards, Rodolfo |

Mr.Ademar: I am very glad of your help! As you said, I solve the first problem, and make the "Unit Test" enabled! But 2ed problem, with the help of http://www.cs.uoregon.edu/research/tau/news.php and the tar ball of it, I can still not make the profiling enabled, the phenomenon is still the same. I do not know whether it is not useful or my method is not correct! Hi, I want to clarify my doubts regarding LibSyncML implementation. I just go through the code. But i hav'nt find the syncml client implementation :-(. Is it already implemented in 0.4.0 version ? Hello List, Looking at OpenSync, as SynCE does not work in Debian. I can connect and get status etc, but when I try and copy a file either way, it murders the ppp0 device every time. No one has this problem on the SynCE mailing list, and nothing in Google Groups about this, so I've given up. I hear that OpenSync will be the standard in KDE4. Is it operational enough yet to sync WM2003SE contacts, calendar, etc to Kontact? Best, Bill Southwell |

And if this doesn't work, you really should try to get newest Gnokii CVS and compile it. I can help with that if you want, though the channel #gnokii on irc.freenode.net can also be very helpful. Certainly, Pavel (pkot) is very friendly and tries to help people as much as he can, but the "linker error" you're describing is a bit vague. Maybe you should just try again and include all output from ./configure and, like the last 50 lines from make or so. I understand that all of this may be frustrating for you, but phone support is not one of Linux strengths at the moment. There are many areas where linux is very good and user-friendly now (say, web browsing and email), but some are not as developed as others. Maybe the situation will be better in, like 5 years or so, just as accessing the Internet with Linux is now much more straightforward with current distros than in 2001. Markus |

Now I've followed all the steps at: http://www.opensync.org/wiki/syncml-guide . Now, how do I manage the phone? I did: $ msynctool --listplugins Available plugins: file-sync $ msynctool --addgroup filefile $ msynctool --addmember filefile syncml-http-server Unable to instance plugin with name syncml-http-server: Unable to find the plugin "syncml-http-server" $ msynctool --addmember filefile syncml-obex-client Unable to instance plugin with name syncml-obex-client: Unable to find the plugin "syncml-obex-client" . I can't work the problem out here. Maybe the installation of syncml-plugin went wrong in some way. In fact, during syncml-plugin installation, when I did $ cd syncml-plugin $ autoreconf -sfi , I got the following error message: configure.ac:7: `automake requires `AM_CONFIG_HEADER', not `AC_CONFIG_HEADER' [...] autoreconf: automake failed with exit status: 1 . Then I changed the line 7 of tmp/syncml-plugin/configure.ac from: AC_CONFIG_HEADER(config.h) into: AM_CONFIG_HEADER(config.h) , and then did: $ make # make install . Apart from that, everything seemed to go well. I'm reporting the whole procedure I followed, hoping for help. Thanks indeed for any help, Rodolfo %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% # apt-get install libxml2-dev # apt-get install sqlite3 libsqlite3-dev . From http://www.opensync.org/ I downloaded: exampleplugin-0.01.tar.gz, libopensync-plugin-file-0.18.tar.gz, multisync-0.90.18.tar.gz, libopensync-0.18.tar.gz and from http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wbxmllib/wbxml2-0.9.0-src.tar.gz?download wbxml2-0.9.0-src.tar.gz and put them in ~/tmp. >From there, I unpacked and installed libopensync-0.18.tar.gz the usual way, then (libfam-dev?) did the same with libopensync-plugin-file-0.18.tar.gz, and the same with multisync-0.90.18.tar.gz. Hi. I wish to read phonebook and sms from my mobile phone, a Nokia 6630 plugged to the PC with USB cable, and Alexander Kanavin from the openobex mailing list suggested me to use the latest opensync with syncml support for that purpose. Do you think it will be all right? So, from `http://www.opensync.org/' I downloaded libopensync-0.18.tar.gz, unpacked it and ran `./configure', but: Package sqlite3 was not found in the pkg-config search path. Perhaps you should add the directory containing `sqlite3.pc' to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable No package 'sqlite3' found . Then I installed libsqlite3-0 and sqlite3 in my Debian Sarge, but the error message came up all the same. Please any help? Thanks in advance, Rodolfo |

Probably this may be done without many changes in the opensync engine library, requiring changes only (or mostly) in the user interface program (e.g. kitchensync, multisync, msynctool). Note: I haven't checked if multisync has this already. But at least msynctool and kitchensync don't have this (yet -- I hope :) --=20 Eduardo |

I am trying to do the same thing with Kubuntu Dapper. I have a couple of problems: 1) When I try to configure the kdepim plugin, I get a message 'This plugin has no options and does not need to be configured'. 2) When I run the sync I get 'Broken Pipe'. Any ideas would be gratefully received! Hi All, After lots of trying and much help from here, I've got my nokia n80 to sync with a sunbird calendar located on another https server. Thanks! Anyone got any ideas for fixes or workarounds to fix the following two things? 1. If I check the "all day" event on my sunbird calendar, when it syncs with the syncml calendar on the phone it puts it in as an event from 0:00 to 23:59:59 in the phone (syncml) calendar. Now the next time I sync this comes back into the sunbird calendar as an additional event on the same day, now covering the full 24 hours. I don't know how these things work but is there something unusual about the sunbird calendar and its categories that this "all day" is unusual or should this work in the syncml calendar. Different standards or a bug? Anyone got ideas about how to fix it so the phone calendar puts in for an all day event? 2. We have one sunbird calendar that our joint secretary puts events on , we can all see but not write to it (permissions). I would like to be able to download it and sync it to my phone only, and not attempt to sync back to it. Currently it causes some sort of fatal error when attempting to sync and write changes back to the sunbird calendar. Can this be implemented? Is there a workaround? Thanks for all so far. Jim |

Hi all, I have a nokia 6280 (fw v3.81 09-05-06 RM 78). It isn't happy when I try to sync it. It doesn't expose the sync interface via usb, but when trying bt i get the following: syncml-obex-client -b 00:11:22:33:44:55 11 --sync text/x-vcard Contacts --identifier "PC Suite" --wbxml connection with device succeeded Received an Alert for the DS Server at Contacts: Type: 201, Last 0, Next 0 Just received a new session with ID 1 Received the DevInf Session 1 reported final. flushing Received an transport error: Link Error As soon as it gets to "connection with device succeeded" the phone "reboots". It doesn't matter what I try to sync with it, contacts calendar etc. Anyone got any ideas on what I could try? Cheers Dave |

i think it's maybe "--sync vcal Calendar" who are wrong. Normaly to sync some things u must do "text/x-vcard" Contacts "text/x-vcalendar" Calendar "text/plain" Notes "text/x-vMessage" SMS try this with : syncml-obex-client -b 00:12:00:00:00:00 11 --sync text/x-vcard Contacts --identifier "PC Suite" --wbxml cold wrote: > > I have the same error, see the end of : error 80 toppic > > > Giovanni Bobbio wrote: >> >> I tried again via bluetooth: >> >> syncml-obex-client -b xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx 11 --identifier "PC >> Suite" --sync vcard Contacts --sync vcal Calendar --wbxml >> >> I also played with --version, --recvLimit, --maxObjSize >> and --noStringTable.
