Hi list, i merged the palm-development branch with the trunk palm-sync plugin. There are still a problem with timezones and wrong start end end timepoints of events which i try to fix ASAP (ticket #300). But i can recommend to use the latest revision of palm-sync. With the merge there are several new features: - encoding support - sync of Memo - recurrence of appointments - fixed several sync conflicts Also i enhanced the configure template so you can disable unsupported object types. For example if your palm doesn't support memos you can disable it by: ./configure --disable-note This is hopefully not required in further releases. Have fun! best regards, Daniel |

Sometimes the phone just sits there in a synchronising state while the msync utility claims that member 1 has committed all changes. member 2 (the 'phone) never commits any changes. Running syncml-obex-client works flawlessly -- I get a status dialogue of changes once the operation completes on the 'phone. Is there any way to transfer one or two contacts to verify that works, as opposed to my whole Evolution addressbook? Thanks a lot, -Lewis Thompson. -- "The nail that sticks up will be hammered down." Hi, Actually i'm trying to sync between Nokia's maemo device and pc using opensync and libsyncml. But it is not working. Maemo device should act like a DS client (syncml client). I'm doing it over bluetooth transport layer. So, i just wanted to know, whether SyncML Client implemenation is present in LibSyncML(version 0.4.0). And if not, is there anybody who is working on it. In this case, i can participate in the implementation part. Well, I have repeatedly asked on the SynCE list, but no one had any ideas; no one helped at all there, as I'd said in a previous email to this list. I finally gave up, and am trying Opensync here, where I've asked a different set of questions. But Armin asked about the SynCE problem here, so I explained it. You should address this problem on the SynCE mailinglist(s), since it's not a problem of opensync at all (because you say the connection fails, when you are transmitting files; so opensync isn't in action at this time at all). > I'm using a WM05 device and found that the guys at SynCE are quite helpful in getting problems solved. > > Cheers, > Manuel > > > > |

Hi, what exactly do you have connected on ppp0 that gets "murdered"? Does the problem always appear during a special phase of the sync (connecting, disconnecting etc) or when some contact or calendar entry is transmitted? Does the problem also appear when no entry is transfered at all? Hi Markus, sorry to hear that have been disappointed by the syncml plugin so far. I cannot promise that I will be able to fix it next week. At the moment the release of opensync 0.19 has top priority, which should hopefully be done in 2 weeks. For 0.19 we will only fix "blocker" or serious bugs. After the 0.19 release we will make another release for the trunk which should then contain fixes for bugs in the plugins. Did you already add a ticket for your problem to the trac ticket system, so that we dont loose overview about the things we need to do for the releases? >=20 > That's not to say that I don't understand if you go on vacation or so, > but I think it would benefit the process if you'd tell the list your > status of availability. I've gone through the Initial installation page, and all went flawlessly except the last part. I ran this once, which synced kabc to the sync1 directory, and it copied fine, but also had a write error. So I ran it again, and here's what it looks like: # msynctool --sync kdefile Synchronizing group "kdefile" Member 2 of type file-sync just connected Member 1 of type kdepim-sync just connected All clients connected or error Member 2 of type file-sync just sent all changes Member 1 of type kdepim-sync just sent all changes All clients sent changes or error Member 1 of type kdepim-sync committed all changes. What does it want? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The above command-line sync only synced those contacts in the std.vcf file, and not those in a second addressbook which is in the separate vcard file subdirectory format. Does Opensync only sync the single file format? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OK, so OpenSync can sync kontact files to a subdirectory under my user. I need to sync contacts between a WM2003 PDA and Kontact. Is this possible? If so, can you reference the HowTo, as I can not find it in the Wiki. |

I can't speak for other people, but I personally have been discouraged to try the SyncML plugin any further because you seemed to have disappeared from the list about 2 months ago, and here's not much hope here that anyone else besides you can fix problems with the SyncML plugin. That's not to say that I don't understand if you go on vacation or so, but I think it would benefit the process if you'd tell the list your status of availability. Keep up the good work and thanks for all time you've already put into OpenSync! Markus |

I've just tried upgrading from libwbxml-0.9.0 + nokia patch to libwbxml-0.9.2, but it seems to a bit buggy - see the attached trace fragment. Before it was correctly producing a closed <FwV/> element. Now it seems to be having major problems with empty elements. Cheers, Tim |

Hi, after a very long time since 0.18 and some larger changes in the codebase (addition of the ipc), its now time to make a new release. But first, we should make a freeze of the current trunk, so that we can work out the remaining blocker bugs. To aid this, I have created a new version for the ticket system called "0.19" as well as a report to view it: http://www.opensync.org/report Please see what remaining issues you have for 0.19 and either move the ticket to 0.19 or create a new ticket. Things that should be ok to fix during the freeze: - blocker + serious bugs - bugs that are trivial to fix - documentation bugs If you dont want to upload the patch to the repository directly, please append it to the ticket so that we can review and upload it. After this release I hope that we can find back to the virtue "Release early, release often" :) Best Regards, Armin Bauer |
