Hello. I'm having the same problem. I have tried everything. USB, bluetooth, http (mlsync both client and server), but I'm unable to syncronize. I'm using Ubuntu with the packages from: deb http://www.in.fh-merseburg.de/~jahn/ dapper main deb-src http://www.in.fh-merseburg.de/~jahn/ dapper main So if anyone is able to syncronize in anyway. Please tell us all. Ochal, Thanks for your reply. I did a ps -ef and didn't find synce, although the connection is recognised by the system. I use Fedora Core 5 (should upgrade to 6). I did a msynctool --plugins and it didn't show any although multisync finds as well the evo2 as the file-sync plugin. I can see dccm is running but I don't knoe how the various routines related to the USB-connection of a PDA are working together (or not?). I'll try your suggestion of starting opensync manually and let you know the result. Joep |

I own an identical iPaq, and it works with synce, eighter your distribution is getting in the way (there might be a dbus rule somewhere that starts all sorts of tasks when you plug in the usb cable & ipaq), or something else is interfering with synce. If i remember correctly, OpenSync uses synce to do the talking with the PDA, so aslong as there is no partnership with the PDA & synce you will not be able to sync. |

Ian, I didn't know that page existed. I will read it and try to follow the directions. At first look it seems rather cookbook-like but I will look more carefully. Ochal, I use the USB connection and the complaint of msynctool is related to the fact that there is no multisync-0.90 directory in my system and all pictures are in the directory /usr/local/share/multisync/pixmaps. I don't know where multisync gets it's local directory information. Furthermore, when I connect my device I get a correct connection and the device shows automagically on my desktop and in nautilus. I can see the directory of the PDA in the nautilus window just as e.g. an external USB drive: its label is Mobile Device However, I just tried your suggestion of "synce-matchmaker status" and I got a segmentation fault. Maybe I have to restart Linux. Any other suggestions? Joep |

Hi, Did you set up a partnership with your PDA? Go to a terminal, and execute "synce-matchmaker status" (without the "") when you connected your PDA. Do you use the usb or bluetooth connection? Why your msynctool complains about pixmaps, i don't know... Basicly though, you just need to setup a partnership with synce between your computer and your pda, and it should work (well, atleast communicate, it's not really working 100% yet here) On Sun, 2006-10-29 at 17:33 +0100, J.L. I'm trying for a long time to synchronize my HP IPAQ 1940 with evolution as I have mentioned in this list. system: AMD64 3000+ Linux 2.6.17-1.2187_FC5; 1 GB memory; sufficient disk space; opensync 0.19-1 multisync 0.90.19-1.FC5. When I use multisync it says: "Error initializing: Unable to get config data: Member has not been configured" I have to plugins in use evolution and CLEO (which is my IPAQ 1940). When I use msynctool I get the following messages: ____________________________________ [joep@laguna open2300-1.10]$ multisync & [3] 20077 [joep@laguna open2300-1.10]$ Starting up! register plugins 0x580ac0 env 0x580ac0 name file-sync option (nil) env 0x580ac0 name evo2-sync option 0x57ea00 env 0x580ac0 name synce-plugin option 0x57ea00 loaded group evolution loaded group CLEO ** (multisync-gui:20077): WARNING **: Couldn't find pixmap file: multisync-0.90/multisync_small.png msync_open_mainwindow() ALSA lib pcm_direct.c:1629:(snd_pcm_direct_parse_open_conf) Unknown field ipc_sem show_pairlist Showing group evolution Showing group CLEO setting status Ready setting status Error initializing: Unable to get config data: Member has not been configured setting status Ready setting status Error initializing: Unable to get config data: Member has not been configured About to run gtk_main The alsa warning is not relevant ( due to a misconfiguration of my sound system) and apparently the picture is not found in that specific directory but that is also not relevant (I think). I have however no idea how to configure members as the WIKI pages doesn't give information what errors mean and how to solve them. Hopefully somebody can. Joep |

Hi, I had the same errors as you when i first tried syncing my phone with evolution & my pda, in a mad/drunk moment, i had the idea to wipe the phone, evolution & pda of any contacts & appointments (after backing them up offcourse) and to try again. At first, it worked wonderfully, however, since just now, i seem to be having the same error 500's again as you have, and my phone keeps doing a slow sync, with afew dosen conflicts that don't really exist (conflicts in contacts that haven't been edited at all on any of the 3 devices), and syncing to the PDA tends to duplicate about 45% of my contacts. If you find a solution, do let me know On Wed, 2006-10-25 at 07:36 +0200, Stephan Olbrich wrote: > No ideas? Anybody? > Do you need more information? Hi all, Just tried getting my PDA to work with OpenSync, but it dies on me midsync, leaving my Evolution contacts & Calendar, aswell as my PocketPC's calendar and contacts messed up, with some appointments aswell as names apearing more then once in it. The PocketPC is an iPaq h1940. This is the output i get: ochal@oldtimer:~$ msynctool --sync "iPaq h1940" > logfile.txt [CeStartReplication:350] result = 0x00000001 [rrac_expect_reply:341] Expecting reply to command 0000006f [rrac_recv_any:235] Received command 0000006c [filetime_to_unix_time:23] This function is deprecated. Hi everybody, I'd like to ask about the status of the SyncML plugin of OpenSync. Is it actively used these days? Are there people currently working on it? Also, I'd like to know about the nature of such a plugin. I think it is an http server internally but I'm not sure about it. Would it make sense to create a SyncML client plugin for OpenSync? Sorry if these are dumb questions but I'm new to the world of synchronization between mobile devices and computers and I really want to learn how it works since I may work in future projects related to these technologies. I did a quick search on the mailing list archives but couldn't find answers to my questions. Sorry if I didn't search properly. Thanks for your answers in advance Best regards, Lorenzo Gil |

Hi all, I'm using msynctool with my Siemens S68 and kaddressbook. I use irmc and kdepim for that. I'm on Gentoo x86 using the official (but keyworded = not considered stable) opensync-0.19 ebuilds with Bluetooth. msynctool --sync s68 --filter-objtype todo --filter-objtype event --filter-objtype note That's pretty much to type. It'd be nice to be able to set the objects to sync in a configuration file on a per-group basis. Are you considering implementing this in the future? Or is this already possible? Thank you Sebastian |

I have set up opensync to synchronize Evolution to the file system, as per the instructions at <http://www.opensync.org/wiki/Evo2-File>, in an attempt to be able to synchronize the Evolution instances on my laptop and desktop. If it's relevant, the paths for all items in the evo2-sync config are "default". However, I am having a difficulty. It seems that changes to TODO items in the file system don't get picked up and transferred to Evolution. Calendar and address book entries are being transferred OK, but the tasks don't get picked up. Any recommendations for fixing this? Hi, I got some steps further. There seems to be a problem with the v-card file kabc produces, so it can't be synced. When I use the kde-pim plugin instead of the file-plugin, most things get synced, but I get several error messages: [...] Error writing entry 516 to member 1 (syncml-obex-client): Unable to commit change. Is there a way to find out, which entries cause the trouble? (entry 516 does not help much...) Maybe there is some strange field in the vcard? Is there anything I can do about the KABC_Birthday entries? Stephan |

Hi, the (funambol) client sends a username/password to the server, but you didnt specify username in the config file. Therefore, the server rejected the session with an 508 error code (visible in the syncml answer package). Best Regards, Armin Bauer lishuai zhao wrote: > Hi, > This is Lishuai.Zhao.
