Does that patch affect syncml-obex-client or just syncml-http-server? I think that my patches should work with both http and OBEX, but as I said above I don't think the P990 works with OBEX. I updated my copy of the Subversion repository just now without getting any conflicts, so I don't think the repository has changed significantly. What sort of errors did you get? That being said, my patches doesn't do anything useful yet, as there is an unresolved problem when starting a real sync (as opposed to testing with synml-http-server), see http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_id=30684964&forum_id=44498 > > > I'd like to add my encouragement and thanks to your UIQ3 efforts, I'm happy to help if possible. Unfortunately there is not much to test yet, apart from verifying that you get the same errors as I get. But my C is also very rusty, and I know (almost) nothing of libsyncml / opensync internals, so please just give it a try if you have the time to spare. ;-) Håvard -- Håvard Wigtil || http://wigtil.net |

Hi all, Is syncml-obex-client supposed to work on the P990 yet? I know you guys are working on other syncml tools but I haven't heard syn= cml-obex-client mentioned. I have libsyncml from svn - revision 202, openobex 1.3 and wbxml2-0.9.2. I can't get the patch H=E5vard Wigtil sent to the devel list last week to= apply - has svn moved on since that patch was generated? Thanks for the responses, the bluetooth pan works perfectly, its really grea, so there is no need f=FCr gnubox etc. The patches are great news, I will have a look and perhaps try. Hi I got opensync and evolution working for calendar entries, but the Contacts won't sync off the phone to a new Contact list created in evolution. I created a new Contact List in Evolution (called OpenSync), then using the multisync-0.90 tool pointed my group at this list for contacts. When I try to sync with my phone, I get this lots of times (I'm guessing it's for every contact, I have 136 contacts in my phone): (process:6555): libebook-CRITICAL **: file e-book.c: line 352: assertion `book && E_IS_BOOK (book)' failed Any ideas? I have the following RPM versions: libopensync-plugin-evolution2-0.19-16.1 libopensync-plugin-syncml-0.19-17.2 libopensync-0.19-33.1 multisync-cli-0.90.19-19.1 multisync-gui-0.90.19-2.1 evolution-data-server-1.6.0-43.20 evolution-2.6.0-49.20 Cheers, KEv. |

Anyway, there is some progress being made with regard to UIQ3 phones. Håvard Wigtil has sent some patches to the devel-list last week. The problem is (mostly) that OpenSync doesn't support SyncML 1.2, which the UIQ3 phones use. With Håvard's patches, I can use syncml-http-server against my P990, but the syncml-plugin still needs some work. But I think it'll come soon :) -Stian |

Hi, I own a SE M600i which runs UIQ3 (based on Symbian 9.1). I tried to make it sync with my kde addressbook, but no success so far. Now before I spend much bigger amounts of time on that: Did anyone else try this (with a M600 or a P990), is opensync supposed to work with UIQ3? My phone only does SyncML over IP (no irmc, no SyncML over Bluetooth), has someoneelse information on whether this is true for all UIQ3 phones? Thanks Johannes |

I am still trying multisync to work but no luck. I think a lot of problems have to do with the 64-bit environment. Armin, I tried to remove the Werror flag but now it says it needs the routines which weren't compiled as the warning came that they weren't used. Another problem I have with the downloaded version - using the FC5 repositories - is that I have donwloaded version 0.90-18 and the opensync which is available is 0,18 but the about button says version multisync has version 0.82. Can I try to remove the multisync binary from /usr/bin and reinstall from the repository or do I have to remove more. Also in the multisync directory I have the following files: /usr/local/lib/multisync/file_sync.la /usr/local/lib/multisync/file_sync.so /usr/local/lib/multisync/libevolution2_sync.a /usr/local/lib/multisync/libevolution2_sync.la /usr/local/lib/multisync/libevolution2_sync.so /usr/local/lib/multisync/libsyncml_plugin.a /usr/local/lib/multisync/libsyncml_plugin.la /usr/local/lib/multisync/libsyncml_plugin.so /usr/local/lib/multisync/libsyncml_plugin.so.0 /usr/local/lib/multisync/libsyncml_plugin.so.0.0.0 As you can see the file file_sync.a is not present. When I start multisync (version0.82) I only see a plugin with the name Ximian Evolution (?) and SyncML. As I want to synchronize a Windows CE PDA I assume I need file_sync. Hope you - or somebody else - can direct me out of this puzzle so I can sync Evolution and the PDA (trying for over a year!). Joep |

You can try to sync the 6230i. But in our tries it was only successful if we synced a single database (like contacts) at a time. We actually scheduled some time next weekend to solve this problem. >=20 >> sorry that i have been so quiet on the list in the last weeks / months= =2E >> I had a lot of work to do for university. My field of study is called "electrical engineering and information technology". I mostly work on problems regarding robotics, since this includes problems from mechanics, electrical engineering, control theory and computer science, so i think its quite an interesting topic. The robot i built is using RTAI and a PID controller written in matlab/simulink for position control. Armin >=20 >=20 > Markus >=20 |

Armin, thanks for keeping us updated. Some comments below. Is it computer science or electrical engineering or something else? I studied computer science ("Informatik") but my main interest was in embedded realtime systems. Infact, my diploma thesis also involved working with Linux/RTAI and among other things also included programming a PID controller. Markus |

If the target is known it should be explicitly set. Previously, the target ("/") was hardcoded in libsyncml, so the second case would not have been possible. I changed this. Btw: libsyncml 0.4.1 has been released which should work correctly together with the current syncml plugin. Hi, I just want to give a quick update about the current status of opensync and what will be done in the near future: We now finally released opensync 0.19 which is a major update, mainly due to the introduction of an ipc between the engine and the plugins. Libsyncml 0.4.1 was also released now. Parallel to opensync 0.19, there was a lot of development on the opensync devel branch, which will address the problems that 0.19 currently has. This branch is already pretty stable, but no final release date can be given at the moment. But a first release of the dev-branch (labeled 0.30) will be made not too far in the future. Until 0.30 is released, the current trunk will be updated with bugfixes. So we will problably make a 0.20 release of the trunk in the future for these bugfixes. The work on libsyncml focuses on providing support for all mobile phones, which are having problems at the moment, as well as adding some missing features like full support for syncml 1.2 and md5 auth. Oh, and something in private matters: sorry that i have been so quiet on the list in the last weeks / months. I had a lot of work to do for university. Besides writing my exams i also had to finish my "Studienarbeit" (similar to a bachelor thesis maybe). I will now try to start my diploma thesis so i can finally finish my studies. If your interested in what i have been doing in my bachelor thesis: The title was (roughly translated) "Design of a omnidirectional, holonomic robotic platform". So i had to design, build and control a robot which had an holonomic drive. A omnidirectional drive can go in any direction (even sideways), but is often limited with the trajectories that can be driven. A holonomic drive is also a omnidirectional drive, but can basically drive any trajectory. The application for this robot is in the field of wide-ranging telepresence (think about a robot in a dangerous environment controlled by a humen operator somehwere else) as a haptic display (so you can actually feel the forces that the telerobot experiences). One scenario i was testing in my study was a virtual labyrinth, which could be navigated using my robot and where the forces on the robot (walls, a spring, damping) could actually be felt. In case you want to know more, you can download my paper here: http://www.arminbauer.org/Studienarbeit.pdf (in german) Best Regards, Armin |

Hi, Libsyncml 0.4.1 has just been tagged / released. There are not too many new features compared to 0.4.0, but several bugfixes. Some of the changes include: - Added better support for 1.2 SAN (though some parts are still missing) - Added support for receiving SAN - Added support for sending devinf - Fixed various bugs As always, you can either checkout 0.4.1 from the subversion tags directory, or download from http://libsyncml.opensync.org/wiki/download. Packages of libsyncml have either already been uploaded to the distributions, or will follow soon. Thanks to everybody who helped in making this release happen and contributed to libsyncml / opensync! Armin |
