All, I've checked the wiki and can't seem to find what might be happeneing with my timezones. Both my laptop and ipaq are set to using America/Regina for timezones. Basically I copied the same Regina file to both the ipaq's /etc/localtime and laptops /etc/localtime file. They also sync to the same time server when on the network. They both have the same time exactly but when syncing data, the ipaq has my calendar entries 6 hours different: Laptop: 8:00AM - 5:00PM Ipaq: 2:00PM - 11:00PM the America/Regina time zone is listed as GMT-6 so I kind of understand where the 6 hour difference comes from ... I just dont understand how both machines being in the same timezone, using the same /etc/localtime file, and displaying the exact same time (command line and from within aplications) would maintain the 6 hour difference? Is it possible I mangled a setting somewhere or messed up my config on either end? Thanks in advance :) Lonny -- "The glass is neither half empty nor half full ... it is twice as big as it needs to be" |

hi dirk + daniel, in general this problem will be solved with the merging support in the dev-branch. if there is a contact with a photo, the photo will be removed (depending on the capabilities) and then the contact will be sent to kde-pim. if kde-pim make some changes and in the next sync it report this contact back to opensync, than will opensync adding the missing photo (before syncronisation). best regards, danile On 06/12/06, Daniel Gollub <dg...@su...> wrote: > > On Monday 27 November 2006 14:26, Dirk Meetschen wrote: > > Is there a possibility to make the KDE-PIM plugin ignore the photo data > by > > some filter or whatever? This should be fixed in a general way and not only in the IrMC-sync plugin. This is likely to affect also other plugins like syncml plugin. Hopefully we can enhance the filter in the devel-branch to filter specific content (like images) out and store this in the archive. After syncing such a filtered entry back .. merge the the filtered content back. Daniel, what do you think? Should this be done with capabilities, filtering or are both possible? I don't mean only to "filter" unsupported stuff from the capabilities. I mean also avoid syncing of special fields like images, also if they are supported. Dirk, feel free to file a enhancement ticket for this against version 0.30. best regards, Daniel |

If you have a mobile which don't support SyncML via OBEX you can also use the gnokii-sync plugin of OpenSync. Maybe a link with good HOWTO? Which distribution do you have? For most there exist the most recent packages for OpenSync and the plugins. There are also packages for the OpenSync frontends like kitchensync or multisync. A guid to build kitchensync for OpenSync from scratch: http://www.opensync.org/wiki/kitchensync For synchronization you have to create a group with kdepim-sync and syncml-obex-client (or gnokii-sync if SyncML via OBEX is not supported by your 6230). > > I think about buying a nokia 6680 ... In the http://www.opensync.org/wiki/DeviceCompatibilityList is a quite old entry which say it requires SyncML 1.1 support in libsyncml. In meanwhile libsyncml supports 1.1 and the mobile should be now supported. best regards, Daniel |

Hello, I want to sync my KDE organizer, adressbook, tasks and notes. At the moment I use a Nokia 6230. I got a cable to connect with the pc and the phone provides bluetooth. At the moment I don't know how I can sync between the phone and KDE. The phone provides syncml, but I don't know how to configure the opensync. I already installed the opensync with the plugins kde-pim, syncml and file-sync. Can someone help me? Maybe a link with good HOWTO? I think about buying a nokia 6680 ... I read that the sync works (organizer, adressbook, tasks and notes). Does someone have some experience with that phone and can tell me? tia Oli |

This used to work with Kitchensync under SUSE 10.1 as I could specify one calendar file each as a source and target. However this functionality seems to have been removed under the version included in 10.2. I don't know exactly what you mean by a "network plugin", however for my case, bringing back the old functionality would be completely sufficient. Markus |

Hi, I am not aware that it is possible to synch the calendar contents from two files (if so, please tell me how in more detail). Your solution (as I understand: synching the calendar files themselves) works, but only as long as just one copy is edited at a time, which cannot be guaranteed in my case. Hi Markus, Why not nfs ( or some other network protocol ) mount your laptop calendar directory onto the desktop. From there just do a file to file sync. I did some patches a while back, but they are not enough to get things working. I'm not planning to do any more work on this, I've found that using SyncML with Horde and my P900 and using Horde as a CalDAV server for Evolution is closer to the setup I want. I hope someone will pick it up and continue. (Thus the crosspost to opensync-devel.) > Also, I could help in testing or even writing some > code .. (although I'm more proficient in Java than > C/C++). If you are interested in coding then you could start with my pacthes, none of these is integrated in Subversion as far as I know. I'm also a lot more proficient in Java than C/C++, but it's not as hard as it seems at first if you are able to spend a little time working on it. First of all you need to have support for SyncML 1.2. You need to compile with libwbxml 0.9.2 (0.9.0 is usually recommended), and use this patch: http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=36940511 This should be enough to use the test server. You also need a patch to do MD5 authentication for real syncing: http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=36960116 After this I ran into a problem with "missing" mime type for the entries sent from the phone, this is probably not solved yet: http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=36996321 -- Håvard Wigtil || http://wigtil.net |

Then looking in group1 I noticed a lock file: $ ls 1/ 2/ change.db changelog.db filter.conf lock* syncgroup.conf So I removed the lock file and figured I'd see what happens: $ rm lock rm: remove regular empty file `lock'? y ... and ran multisync again: $ multisync-gui Member 2 of type kdepim-sync just connected Attempting FTP Connection. I left the ipaq with no entries and did all the changed in Kontact and KOrganizer and none of the infor propogated to the ipaq. It looked promising but still no dice. The saga continues :D ... well kind of .... I'm running out of things to try :/ |
