From my direct experience, using anything other than 0.32 compounds sync issues significantly (including introducing that forbidden (0x43) error). I think threr are different version number for free and branded and maybe international versions versions. Mine is a t-mobile version. 14.0.001 is the only version offered by Nonkia's updater. I would like to debrand the phone if i can be sure not to burn it. xyon wrote: > > I would recommend starting fresh with everything (clear out n95 from all > calendar, task, contact entries; then mv ~/.opensync to ~/.opensync-backup > and recreate the sync group; then do a fresh sync). opensync+n95 has > always > worked well when starting clean for me. > This is what i did when my opensync 0.32 failed. I first removed that version and installed an "offical stable" 0.22 and started fron scratch. Then i removed 0.22 completely and complied 0.36, where the syncml plugin did not compile, probably due to a script problem. So i took svn, but copied the src-dir from 0.36 to remain consistent. I also started without an existing .opensync dir. This version also shows the same problem with n95. Another interesting Detail (all nokia 14.0.001): Using 0.22 or 0.32, the phone displays a "Serverfehler" (Server fault) message. Using 0.36, the msynctool log still says Forbidden (0x43), but the phone now displays a different message: "Sychronisationsserver-Fehler" (sync server fault). Before n95 update it worked quite well with 0.32. So now i'll try Christian's suggestion and post the results later. I also found a crash (segfault) in the http-Server of 0.36 if the server path name the phone requests is not found and a hanging process if path is ok. But i did not check it against the bug list so it needs some more investigation if this is a new issue. I have not tried anything higher than 12.0.013 yet, but am anxious to hear how people like 20.x. I would recommend starting fresh with everything (clear out n95 from all calendar, task, contact entries; then mv ~/.opensync to ~/.opensync-backup and recreate the sync group; then do a fresh sync). opensync+n95 has always worked well when starting clean for me. -- xyon |

Currently, there are several APIs for the configuration of palm-sync and libsyncml plugin, but lack of APIs for the configuration of file/evolution plugin. For example, APIs to retrieve/store objtype/objformat supported by the plugin, path of the file/calendar/contacts/.... Now we can get these information through other APIs. But it's better to provide unified interfaces. Regards, Jedy |

Hi, I had also the K750i - and it worked quite fine with IRMC<->KDE. My IRMC config - used this also for K750o: <config> <connectmedium>bluetooth</connectmedium> <btunit>xxxxxxxx</btunit> <btchannel>8</btchannel> </config> with "xxxxxxxx" being the UNIT code of your mobile phone device. The KDE plugin doesn't provide any config option. IMPORTANT: You have to stop any kmail, kontact, ... program BEFORE syncing, as the plugin has problems with a parallel open program of this type. My OBEX-Syncml config is as follows: <?xml version="1.0"?> <config> <!-- (Only for bluetooth) The bluetooth address if the bluetooth mode is selected --> <bluetooth_address>xxxxxxxxx</bluetooth_address> <!-- (Only for bluetooth) The bluetooth channel to use. `sdptool browse $MAC` to search for the correct channel --> <bluetooth_channel>1</bluetooth_channel> <!-- (Only for USB) The usb interface number of the SYNCML-SYNC target. use syncml-obex-client -u (you will need access to the USB raw device) to find it. --> <interface>0</interface> <!-- The string that the plugin will use to identify itself. Some devices need a special string here. --> <identifier>Sony Ericss</identifier> <!-- The syncml version to use: 0 for 1.0, 1 for 1.1 and 2 for 1.2 --> <version>1</version> <!-- if the plugin should use wbxml --> <wbxml>1</wbxml> <!-- The username to use. Leave empty to not require a username --> <username></username> <!-- the password for the username --> <password></password> <!-- sets the connection type to use. 5 means obex over usb, 2 means obex over bluetooth --> <type>2</type> <!-- If wbxml is enabled, defines wether the wbxml should use string tables --> <usestringtable>0</usestringtable> <!-- Never send ADD command, but send REPLACE (not needed normally) --> <onlyreplace>0</onlyreplace> <!-- Workaround around for mobile phones which only use local timestamps and _no_ UTC timestamps! --> <onlyLocaltime>0</onlyLocaltime> <!-- Sets the maximum allowed size in bytes of incoming messages (some device need this option set). Hi, I have a SonyEricsson k750i as a buziness one. I have never managed it to sync the device with my KDE desktop. IT starts and breaks the sync process. And worse I have also private nokia 6021. It does not want to even start syncing. This happens, when I sync with IRMC plugin against KDE plugin. This does NOT happen, when I sync with SYNCML plugin. But sadly I suffer the well known vcard/venevt convertion bug ("error 500") - which is already described without solution in the opensync website. So - currently I have to use TWO sync pairs: + IRMC<->KDE to get new information from mobile to PC + SYNCML<->KDE to get updates from PC to mobile Someone suggested after my first report, that there might be some problem around "hard" and "soft" deletion. Hi, I sent already some month ago a problem report regarding the error message "Speicher ist voll" (memory is full) on my mobile phone (SonyEricsson K800i). Hello, (Tobias, since you report the phone working on http://www.opensync.org/wiki/DeviceCompatibilityList I put you on copy) I am running opensync-0.22 and sync with an Siemens S55. I sync it with kdepim (and two files for backup purposes). When I add a contact in kdepim, it propagates nicely to the S55. When I change a contact in S55 the change does not appear in the S55, although the logs look like opensync transfers them: rd@blackbox:~$ msynctool --sync filefile Synchronizing group "filefile" Member 2 of type file-sync just connected Member 1 of type file-sync just connected Member 4 of type kdepim-sync just connected Member 3 of type irmc-sync just connected All clients connected or error Member 2 of type file-sync just sent all changes Member 1 of type file-sync just sent all changes Received an entry baphqXiDLj with data of size 4 from member 4 (kdepim-sync). Maybe then you should plan to abstract your bluetooth GUI code to replace it on build time with D-Bus API of BlueZ or the Solaris Bluetooth stack. > > > > - Object type config enhancement: allow user enable/disable/set_path > > > per obj_type for each member > > > - (optional) Configuration GUI for google calendar plugin. > > > > The google calendar plugin should get rewritten first - iirc Christian > > had a look on this task. I hope this could be done with OSyncPluginAuthentication .. there is the attribute "reference" which is intended to store the ID of the key for Gnome key ring or KWallet. There is only some code missing so the plugin can request the password via this "ressource" without using specific key-ring implementation. I guess a new command for the OpenSync IPC is required, or just enhancing the connect command parameter. |

Yep, can I have two requirement? - proxy support httplib2 support it. - save password safely, I hate plain text. gnome-keyring maybe a option, not know whether it can be used on KDE environment. Thats really interesting! How do you plan to "map" a certain device which get announced via HAL (as connected) and the configured group/member? We had some discussion in the past about this ... The new OSyncPluginConfig Interface provides also a connection specific subcomponent: OSyncPluginConnection. You would have to load the OSyncGroupEnv step through all the member of each group and load the OSyncPluginConfig of the member and check for matching device in OSyncPluginConnection. I hope the information in OSyncPluginConnection are enough to identify those devices. If not please let me know, so we can enhance the interface for this... Once the OpenSync side got stabilized i hope i can do the same with KitchenSync, but using Solid, not speaking to HAL directly. Do you have any plans for bluetooth already? BlueZ provides for linux quite nice D-Bus API. (I have no idea about OpenSolaris and Bluetooth ...) > - Configuration GUI for palm-sync plugin. > - Configuration GUI for libsyncml Plugin. Hi, I'm going to implement some new things for gnome-sync[1] in next two months, this includes: - HAL/DBUS support, auto detection and auto connection with existing groups. - Configuration GUI for palm-sync plugin. - Configuration GUI for libsyncml Plugin. - Object type config enhancement: allow user enable/disable/set_path per obj_type for each member - (optional) Configuration GUI for google calendar plugin. If you do not know gnome-sync, you could refer th GUI design doc on http://www.genunix.org/wiki/index.php/Opensync_new_gui_design [1] http://sourceforge.net/projects/gnome-sync Comments are welcomed! Thanks, Halton. |

Hello, I've a problem about synchronisation between my phone (K320i of Sony Ericsson) and Evolution 2.22.1.1 : all works, but at the end, there is the message : "Member 2 of type syncml-obex-client just sent all changes All clients sent changes or error All conflicts have been reported" And nothing happens : the connexion is not stopped and if I do that by myself, the changes aren't made... Can you help me please ? Adrien |

My wife used to have a Palm pilot, and at work it would synchronize wit Lotus Notes. But the palm dies, and she decided a good replacement would be a treo, because it would combine the functions of her Palm with those of a cell- phone. Much money later, she discovered that her treo does Microsoft instead. Although the usual applications run on it, it will no longer synchronise her calendar with Lotus Notes. Other things seem to work, but it is now difficult for her to coordinate with the secretaries that manage her schedule. Is there any hope of getting this to work using OpenSync as an intermediary? -- hendrik |

Dear all, I've come across a problem when installing the syncml-plugin on a Fedora Core 6 linux server. I'm installing from source and not via the RPMs provided by Fedora as I couldn't find a syncml-plugin-RPM package. Everything compiles fine but the make for the libopensync-plugin-syncml version 0.22 throws an error: -- snip --- ... gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I.. -I/usr/include/glib-2.0 -I/usr/lib/glib-2.0/include -I/usr/include/libsyncml-1.0 -I/usr/include/libxml2 -I/usr/local/include/opensync-1.0 -Wall -Werror -I/usr/include/glib-2.0 -I/usr/lib/glib-2.0/include -I/usr/include/libsyncml-1.0 -I/usr/include/libxml2 -I/usr/local/include/opensync-1.0 -g -O2 -MT syncml_plugin.lo -MD -MP -MF .deps/syncml_plugin.Tpo -c syncml_plugin.c -fPIC -DPIC -o .libs/syncml_plugin.o syncml_plugin.c: In function 'syncml_http_server_init': syncml_plugin.c:687: error: 'SmlTransportHttpServerConfig' has no member named 'ssl_key' syncml_plugin.c:688: error: 'SmlTransportHttpServerConfig' has no member named 'ssl_crt' make[2]: *** [syncml_plugin.lo] Error 1 make[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/opensync/libopensync-plugin-syncml-0.22/src' make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/opensync/libopensync-plugin-syncml-0.22' make: *** [all] Error 2 --- snip --- The configure script had run without problems. The other components like libopensync 0.22, msynctool 0.22 and libopensync-plugin-ldap 0.22 had also compiled without error. I'm using libsyncml 0.4.2 that is included in the distribution. As I couldn't find any solution in the Wiki, the tickets and the mailing list I decided to send this mail. If you need more information on the environment please let me know. Thanks in advance and kind regards, Johannes |

Hello, I am using opensync 0.22 to sync kdepim and my S55 (irmc-sync, contacts only). When I do some modifications on kaddressbook, these are perfectly synced with the S55. When I add contacts to the S55 they are not synced with kaddressbook though. Can the Google calendar plugin be used to sync secondary calendars? If so, which url format should one use? For those who don't know what a secondary calendary is: (from http://code.google.com/apis/calendar/developers_guide_protocol.html) A primary calendar is created for a user when they sign up for a Google Calendar account. All other calendars created by that user are called secondary calendars. Imported calendars are calendars that a user subscribes to that someone else has created. -- Best Regards, Paul Eden "...and a little looking out for the other guy too." - Mr. Smith |
