Hi dear Daniel and other friends, I could finally sync my Sony Ericsson P1i and the Linux box with Funambol. Funambol 7.0.6 works flawlessly with contacts syncing. I used WiFi capability of my device to connect to the 8080 port of my laptop (The port which funambol listens on). So, two questions: 1- Can traffic sniffing of funambol help for solving opensync problems with my SE device? 2- Funambol can't sync my notes. It seems it's a common issue which is being solved. I guess it's only a mapping problem. The funambol mailing lists aren't so active. So, I asked the question here. How can I figure out the problem before any newer version comes? Sincerely, Habib Seifzadeh |

Hi all, I was pointed here form IRC - hope this is right :) I want to put many different iCal files onto my Palm, I don't _really_ care how it happens, but it seems the smoothest Cal -> palm experience happens using Evolution, so that left me with needing to do "many iCals --> Evolution" - these iCals are on the web and on my system... So, where I've got so far: Use claws mail (which I use as my mail client anyway...) to get the iCal files, which it bundles into one single ical for me, then sync that file with evolution This works fine on the first sync. BUT I don't have a reliable way for things that are added through either the palm or in Evolution (which I do sometimes use for entering data on the actual computer) to get into claws (or, I don't think I do - any suggestions). Because Claws mail just sucks its ical events into one big file, and it ignores any changes that anything makes to that file (re-exporting the original file every X minutes), when I do the second sync, opensync thinks claws has deleted all the palm/evo based things and then deletes them from Evo, and subsequently the Palm! Not what I want I think what I am trying to ask for is a way to say "This (Evo calendar) is the canonical calendar, don't delete anything from it [unless it came from the claws calendar and now it isn't in the evo calendar]" and "This (claws calendar) is a bunch of things that might already be in the evolution calendar, but if they aren't, add them in. The bit in [ ]brackets I think I could do without... Any suggestions? Anyone have a better solution for taking multiple iCal files and bundling them on to one single Palm (bonus points if you can get a category<->calendar correlation) Thanks very much! Who |

Hey, I am trying to sync to my blackberry using barry. I have finally managed to get barry up and running, and the group set up. but when I tell it to sync, barry throws the same error it always throws when it is not run as root. when run as root, it uses the wrong config, and I don't think it would find my kde-pim information either. How can I run the plugin with root privileges, or somehow allow it to do its magic without having to have root privileges? Thanks, Nils |

Hi, I've purchased a Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic, and would like to sync it with Evolution through usb; I'm using Ubuntu 8.10. It's worked only partially, as it stops before ending with no error, and only a few contacts have been transferred to the phone. The major reason to release was the found memory leak. Minor Changes ============= - LIBDATA_INSTALL_DIR was introduced (used by pkgconfig). - The installation of the documentation can be disabled. - All tests are executed as standalone tests to get more detailed informations if a test fails. Internal Changes ================ - Removed a useless buffer which only creates a memory leak. - The timezone of the nightly build-time was fixed. Special thanks goes to the authors of Valgrind which helps to discover the fixed memory leak. Best regards Michael |

Hello. I'm trying to compile the evolution2 plugin from trunk, and having the following dependency problem: /home/martin/evolution2/src/evolution2_sync.c:23:40: error: libedataserver/eds-version.h: No such file or directory The file eds-version.h appears to exist only in versions 2.23 and newer of the Evolution data server, whereas Debian will only give me 2.22. Is there a genuine dependency on version 2.23, or can I just patch the source code to work without this header file? I really don't want to have to install Evolution from source. Thanks for your help Martin Bright |

Help getting OpenSync 0.40 out of the door ASAP! Not quite sure how do you plan to contribute. We have various trivial task (no real programming knowledge required - e.g. doxygen annotationg cleanup, ...) and some more complicated stuff inside the OpenSync core code - like bringing the API in shape quickly before the freeze. Something which also require lot of work is our internal XMLFormat and the vformat plugin (for handling iCalendar, vCalendar, vCard, ...). So you might want to check: http://www.opensync.org/wiki/join To get an idea how to turn into an OpenSync Hacker. Very appricated would be to help out with the current Active Tickets which block the current release: http://opensync.org/roadmap For 0.39 (last experiemnetal release before 0.40, the stable one) we have right now 24 open tickets. If there is none you feel that you can help, check the 0.40 milestone. If there is also none, feel free to contact my directly via IRC ... there is for sure more work todo which we didn't tracked yet in the ticket system. We have already lots of trivial jobs to be done. Like: - moving the Doxygen Annotation into header files. Fix Doxygen Annotation. - replacing osync_assert() protection of pulblic interface with osync_return_if_fail() - ... i'll collect some more trivial task and make sure they are tagged in the ticket system with [TRIVIAL] and provide a query for this. best regards, Daniel |

Please see http://commit-digest.org/issues/2008-12-07/. ----- KDE-PIM Allen Winter committed a change to /trunk/KDE/kdepim/CMakeLists.txt: No longer try to find Opensync or glib2. This effectively turns-off kitchensync and the akonadi opensync plugin and removes both from KDE4.2. We can try to restore these for KDE4.3, if we think opensync 0.40 will be ready. Revision 893005 ------ How can I help to speed up things so that I can sync my mobile phone with KDE-PIM? Ciao! |

Dear Daniel, First of all, happy new year! You was right, my BT device is recognized as a USB device. So, I could sniff the BT traffic. The information has been attached to the email. I hope I finally can sync my P1i mobile with Linux box. Cheers, Habib Seifzadeh |

Dear All, This is my first post to this mailing list. I need help building trunc under fedora 10. I can't sync with my nokia mobile phone for a few weeks now, so I wanted to try a more recent release of opensync. I removed all the opensync rpm packages from my system, downloaded a bunch of -devel packages. Then I downloaded trunc using subversion and started building it following the suggestions found at http://www.opensync.org/wiki/trunk/installation/checkout. I can't build the kdepim part. I tried downloading if from http://svn.opensync.org/plugins/kdepim/ (no go as it needs KDEPIM3) and from anonsvn.kde.org/home/kde/trunk/KDE/kdepim/akonadi/opensync (also no go, because two files seem to be missing, OpenSyncInternal and OpenSyncPlugin). Thank you for your help. |

Most laptops have bluetooth connect via USB internally. Run lsusb in linux... i only new few laptops which use UART. best regards, Daniel |

You could verify that quite easy. Boot a Linux and use the keyboard action to switch BT off and on. I expect you will see USB messages in syslog. I also try to borrow a USB BT device and sniff the traffic. best regards, Habib |
