Hi Since Mac OS Catalina accepts only 64Bit apps the current version of opensong doesnt work with it. I need a version suitable for the curent Mac OS Catalina.
At this time, there is no 64-bit build for macOS. The source code is not 64-bit aware and there are certain things that have to be changed within OpenSong to support compiling for a 64-bit target beyond the usual issues found moving an older legacy codebase where much of the underlying structure was written before the compiler introduced support for a 64-bit target.
The OpenSong modifications are underway. Note that Catalina is still a beta product, so any changes we make specific for Catalina may have to change before it is formally released as a shipping product by Apple. For that reason, we are not going to publish a Catalina-specific build at this time.
The official position of OpenSong is that we recommend High Sierra, will support Mojave, and Catalina support will come as soon as we can provide a stable 64-bit build but is unsupported at this time.

Hi Catalina is officially released today. I love OpenSong and have a big database with it, but it's horrible that I'll lose the ability to use OpenSong coz catalina isn't backward compatible.
Would you guys be releasing the OpenSong with Catalina support?

I suggest being cautious about upgrading to Catalina immediately upon its release. Although it is common for Mac users to upgrade to new versions quickly, consider whether there is a feature in Catalina that makes it appealing to jump immediately. No current Mac systemsrequire the upgrade. I'm still using High Sierra (10.13) on my primary system and Mojave (10.14) on my second system.
I have discovered one Catalina-related issue. The color selector can only be accessed once per OpenSong run. The second access will crash the program immediately. This is due to a change in the underlying Apple API in macOS 10.15. Once I develop a workaround, I will post a point release to OpenSong. It does not affect Mojave or earlier macOS releases.

thanks for updating the mac version. something really strange is going on with the print preview within opensong. running catalina and the new opensong 3.0. the layout and spacing is all wonky in the print preview within opensong. but if click on print.. / pdf / open in preview it looks fine again, so i can do that as a workaround to do my page layouts for printing sheets, which is my primary use for opensong.

I'm having a similar issue on Catalina, I space out the chords properly in song mode, then when previewing or printing as PDF, the chords are all in the wrong place. Is there an update I'm missing?
Preview definitely has an issue at the moment. I have not been able to determine why. Work is still on-going to isolate the problem. However, on my systems, with both Catalina and Mojave (I haven't tested any older versions), actually printing has given accurate results. If you have seen something else on PDF output from the operating system's print dialog, please open it in Preview and post a screen shot. Thanks.
I'll post a reply in this thread when we have a resolution to the problem.

thanks for updating the mac version for catalina. the print preview within opensong is displaying text very strange with huge extra space and tiny text. if i click on print... pdf / open in preview, it looks fine and prints fine, so that is a reasonable workaround, but i wanted to let you know.

I've entered a bug in the tracking system for this. It is not specific to the Mac, so it's a more general issue with print preview that needs to be investigated. Since the code was not modified between the last OpenSong release and this one, it must be a change in the underlying compiler and libraries.

Ed, has the Catalina-related issue with the color selector been resolved? Thank you!
If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
Yes, it has. OpenSong V3.0.1 includes that fix and I forgot to mention it in the release notes. It's not exactly "Mac-like" in the way it works. You have to close the selector window to get the OpenSong preference to update. I would like to correct that, but I have to make it a low-priority issue for the moment.

Thank you for all your hard work! I love using this program and have recommended it to so many other worship leaders here in Nepal.

If you must upgrade to Catalina, a 64-bit version of OpenSongOSX was posted two days ago at https://sourceforge.net/projects/opensong/files/OpenSong/V3.0.0/OpenSongOSX-V3.0.0.dmg/download. This is also backward compatible to 10.10 and later.

Thank you for your kind words! We're glad you find it useful in your ministry.
An update on this issue. I have located the cause and it will be fixed in the next release. Hopefully you won't have to wait too long.
