Hi, I'm having an issue with the italian bibles.
I installed the 2.1.2 opensong on my windows xp pc and I downloaded
2 zipped bibles, I pasted the unzipped files on the "scripture" folder and it can eve find it while opening opensong, but when I chose the bible version from the menu on the right it changes but it says that it cannot find the bnames.xml file, that I think it is necessary to index the bible, the result is that it opens that version of the bible but instead of showing the books name example matthew, mark, luke, it gives 1,2,3... not very easy to find a verse! :(
Do you know what I can do for it?
Thanks very much,
God bless you

Hi
Booknames, both fully specified and abreviated, are optional in Zefania XML Bibles. OpenSong however requires them and therefore offers to add them from bnames.xml, if the Zefania XML Bible lacks them.
The installer copies bnames.xml to the "OpenSong Settings" folder in OpenSong's Program folder. Please check this folder for the file, and if not there, try reinstalling OpenSong.
Make sure you run the exe from OpenSong's Program folder. Please check any shortcut you use to start OpenSong, that it is indeed a shortcut and you did not accidentally copy the executabe file instead.
Because OpenSong attemps to modify the Bible file, make sure you have privileges to modify the file in its subfolder to "Program Files" (localized name in XP) when you first access the bible version. You also need this in order to save the search index. But once OpenSong could successfully write the files, limited user access (read only) is sufficient thereafter.
I am not sure if OpenSong will try to add the names on each session. If not, try to delete the search index while OpenSong is not running. It is named like the bible itself but with an extension of .ind and it resides in the subfolder "indexes" below "OpenSong Scripture".
I hope this helps if you did not resove the issue yourself long ago.
