I don't know if any of you have come across the
following situation or not, but it can be rather
embarrassing. When creating the set, you were told that
they would only be singing verses 1 and 4 of a
particular song. Fine, so you edit the custom
presentation order field (in the Beta versions) so to
something like 'V1 C V4 C'. However when you come to
sing this song during the presentation, you get to the
end of the first verse and chorus, to find that they
start singing the second verse. Not having the verse in
the set, you then have to hurredly drop out of the
presentation, alter the presentation field, save the
set, restart the presentation and find where you where
... meanwhile they've probably finished trying to sing
the second verse already!!!

Would it be possible to set up OpenSong, so that during
a presentation, if you came across that sitution, you
could just press the keyboard shortcut of the missing
verse (in this case '2') to insert the verse into the
song 'on-the-fly'? I think that would be an excellent
feature!

I know there would be issues to work through, such as
where to insert it ... do you insert it directly after
the current slide? However by the time you realise the
problem, you are most probably already on verse 4, so
inserting verse 2 after that may not be a good idea. Or
do you look at the default presentation order, and
insert it into the song where it normally would go
(which seems to make more sense, but could be more
difficult). I guess you may also need to look and see
if the song has a chorus and could possibly add another
copy to the song after the inserted verse ... although
that may not work for all songs though...

I guess the other concept I came up with would be to
normally have all verses displaying in the
presentation, have the verses which are not going to be
sung greyed out, and arrange it so that the arrow keys
skips over greyed out verses, but that you can use
number keys or the mouse to display greyed out verses.
I still think I would prefer the first method though.

Anyway ... just a suggestion!

Thank you so much for all the hard work you have put
into creating and improving this program!!

Suggestion for another work around untill we get more
flexibility while in presentation mode: use the [Q] Insert
Song feature and add the song once more. This probably is
quicker and you need not back out of the presentation
    alltogether.

A remark to the proposal of hotkeys:
Since we need a way to edit slides in presentation anyway,
I'd prefer to go to the set/slide editor (without leaving
the show, of course) to fix the problem instead of having
hotkeys to items that had been deselected before.

I hadn't thought of inserting the song again (using [Q]) to
get the rest of the verses! Certainly better than dropping
out of the presentation, but I still think it may take a
    little too in some cases...

Even switching to the editor and back (even if it was
possible without exiting the presentation) would take a while...

I guess to me it just would seem natural to be able to use
the existing 'hotkeys' to insert and display a verse that
was initially not going to be sung... it would just require
one keystroke to display that verse, rather than having to
chase things with the mouse, or type the name of the song to
insert it again and then try and find the right verse in a
    few seconds...

    Anyway, just a suggestion.

Personally, if it were me, and my song leader was so fluid,
    I would just add the complete song (with V1 C V2 C V3 C V4)
and use the 1 C 4 hotkeys to display whatever the song
leader leads. Then, if they slip in verse 2, just press 2. Voila!

That way you are getting exactly the effect you are asking for.

    Just my thoughts.

Since things do change regularly during a song
presentation I just have all possible options up and
ready. I use the mouse to move through the presentation. I
have the songs set up on the slides so that only the
portions I want to show will show.
