Yes, it is possible to run OpenSong portable on Ubuntu with the same Set,
    Backgorund and Songs folders.

Do you also want the ability to run OpenSong from the same folder on windows
    and linux?
If so, it should work to just copy from linux version file 'opensong' to the
    windows portable version, where is
    opensong.exe.

It makes me only worried if ubuntu allown execute binaries from flash drive.

Don't forget to remind to worship leader that linux version doesn't support
    dualscreen feature, if it matters.

First of all, it is not true that dualscreen is not supported using Linux. It
has some limitations, but it can work if:

    • the desktop is 1 large screen, spanned over 2 monitors (eg using nVidia TwinView)
    • the configurations (resolution) of the two monitors is equal
    • the two monitors are configured to be next to each other instead of on top of each other
To add to the reply of matyske03, to enable portable mode, use the '--
portable' switch or modify the portable value in the 'OpenSong
    Settings/Globals' file. See ([https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid

"... it should work to just copy from linux version file 'opensong' to the

Are you saying that I have to install the linux version in ubuntu and then
copy the linux version file 'opensong' to the portable folder on the flash
drive, or is there another way to get the 'opensong' file? Forgive me for not
being incredibly linux savy ... but I want to learn :).

it is not necessary to install linux version. It should be possible to open
deb file in an archive manager (like file-roller) and just unpack linux
    executable.

In archive manager there you can see 'data.tar.gz'. Click on that and then
    just unpack file ./opt/OpenSong/opensong.
That file should be around 13 MB in size.
