Hello, In New Zealand we are planning to continue the import of data from Land Infomation New Zealand (LINZ). The next stage of this import is hydrographic data, using the seamark tagging schema. The source data uses the IHO S-57 format, and the tagging + data layers are documented here: https://wiki.osm.org/LINZ#Hydrographic This data covers New Zealand, its outer islands, Sāmoa, Tonga, Niuē, Tokelau, the Cook Islands, and the Ross Sea of Antarctica (roughly equivalent to the area on this map: https://maritimenz.govt.nz/images/about/rccnz/SRR-map.jpg). If anyone is interested in reviewing the plan, please see https://wiki.osm.org/LINZ#Hydrographic Any feedback is welcome. Best regards, Kyle |

I have a small black GPS rechargeable black box that can link to my Open CPN 5.0 downloaded onto my laptop. I am trying to link the Garman GPS box to this fantastic chart website openseamap. It is not a chart plotter or MFD, just a little black box GPS that works great. I can only speak from experience of using them, not from the point of view of any formal definition. By 'facilities' I would understand things like a power hookups; shower block; a shop selling tins, toggles and toothpaste; bar/restaurant slipway/lifting gear; posh yachtie clothes; etc. In order of importance. The most basic I've used was in the Hebrides: some bollards to tie up, and a single shower in a farmer's shed (spotlessly clean, leave 50p in the matchbox). I'd hesitate to call even that 'no facilities', but I'm of the hair-shirt sort: ymmv. On Fri, 22 May 2020 at 02:46, Eric H. Hi there, I recently started adding and fixing information on openseamap. There are a few things that I did not find sufficient information about in the wiki. - There is no guide on how to chart signs. The plugins are incomplete and it's pretty cumbersome to find out the rules and interdependencies to the different tags/values. - Where to place seamark:type=notice? - i.e. for an non-free ferry, place on the ferry route or place one at each position where there is such a sign installed? - Tags/values for kiteboarding permitted areas/signs are missing. - How to tag multiple signs on a single post/position? - How do I manually enter depth information, like if I measured the depth at several points by hand? - Is it possible to enter depth contour lines (like areas where you say: inside it is deeper than...)? Or do you collect pointlike depth information from sonar logs and then compute the depth contours from that? - Why is the sea map not available as a layer at https://openstreetmap.org? - Why is the sea map not rendered like sea chart (like SeaChart background in JOSM, yellow land with reduced information)? What else came to my mind is: - Why are you using sourceforge? - In my (and many other's) opinion, github/gitlab are far better and SF is effectivly dead. - Searching the mailing list archive is a PITA, you effetively do not find the information you want. An issue tracker and some board software with tagging and so on would make discussion and contribution easier. Don't take this as a complaint or rant, I just didn't find satisfying answers. Greetz, Adam. |

'Tiefer' heisst hier +1m ;) Danke schonmal fuer Vorschlaege! Alex. |

Hi Malcom, Mapnik renders the breakwaters. I found these definitions in [1], and you can see the correct display in the links of my messages. http://www.openstreetmap.org/way/12504221 http://www.openstreetmap.org/way/12504222 Anyhow, you are right: if I go to www.openseamap.org you can see what the openseamap layer is rendering through the overlay switch. I'm supposing that OpenSeaMap/OsmAnd is using a different base rendering (and it looks so). I don't think that you'll find global bathymetry available anywhere. In the EU, the INSPIRE project has resulted in the release of some bathymetry data in the public domain: un-gridded coastal bathymetry from the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office, which is not suitable for navigation, is available at http://aws2.caris.com/ukho/mapViewer/map.action - select Bathymetry from the drop-down. I presume other European Hydrographic Offices contribute similar data. You could also have a look at MEDIN: http://www.oceannet.org/finding_data/ , though I'm not sure that either of these will give you exactly what you're asking for. Hello to the list! Although I'm an OSMer since few years this is my first message here, so I apologize if I'would be off-topic. I used the OpenSeaMap plugin for OSMAnd and I immediately realized that the breakwaters in front of the Livorno's harbour are not shown: http://www.openstreetmap.org/way/12504221 http://www.openstreetmap.org/way/12504222 Can anybody say me if this is a mapping error or an application bug ? Im looking for .shp files or something i can use in mapbox studio for depths under 200m I'm displaying a .mbtiles vector map in an android app dedicated to scuba diving, I am using a vector map created in mapbox studio in order to save on disk space for offline use. Good afternoon I urgently need maps of the Magellan Strait, principally eastern part. I need them in BSB or ENC format that can be opened with OpenCPN, or as a Garmin MAPI format to open with Garmin HomePort for Mac. The details I need are navigational marks and offshore installations. I have official Argentinian maps downloaded from http://www.hidro.gob.ar/cartas/cartasnauticas.asp <http://www.hidro.gob.ar/cartas/cartasnauticas.asp> but they cover only this part with a general map, not any details. Another concern with Argentinian official maps for download is that they have not been updated or corrected since early 2012, this is an area with offshore installations. The Chilean map agency, http://www.shoa.cl/pagnueva/comelec.html <http://www.shoa.cl/pagnueva/comelec.html> , probably have better maps of the area I am interested in, but I am not able to extract these maps. If anybody have success with that please let me know. If the sources I get are of compatible license with OSM/OSeaM I am willing to prepare the maps for tracing or similar. Aun Johnsen Aun Johnsen |

It does not appear in the S-57 catalogue, therefore will not be found in ENC charts. There will likely be some objects in the database that meet the definition of MPA, but have been mapped as Restricted Areas with categories such as Nature Reserve, Ecological Reserve, etc. |
