I have designed a board based on this design with SMD parts and a ZIF socket.
If there is enough demand this may be available to buy in kit form. The intention is that the kit would be mostly assembled with all the SMD parts already on the board and the other parts supplied in a bag. The buyer would need to solder the PIC socket, the USB socket and the ZIF socket to obtain a working programmer.
Let me know if you would like to see this available to purchase.
Thanks
Tim

Hi,
Have you got any more details about this? Maybe a few photos of any working prototypes. How big is the PCB? Which parts would be surface mount? What would the kit cost? I'm still evaluating this programmer, so a kit would be useful depending on the cost. It MUST be fully working though. Thanks.
David.

I have a working prototype but it has not yet been determined if or when it will be available for sale or what price. The board is the same size as the original, 68x97mm
Most components are SMD and will already be fitted, leaving the customer to install the large ZIF socket, a socket for the PIC and a USB socket which should only take a few minutes. This is fairly usual for kits of this type as these are the only components that can't be handled by the pick and place machine.
To my knowledge there are no kits available for this programmer at present, so the only way to build one would be to get a bare board made and source all the components yourself, by no means impossible but annoying.
I would be interested in your thoughts on the above.
Best wishes
Tim

I'm willing to be a guinea pig for any kit you produce. Please let me know when something is available and how much this would cost me. I can feed back my experience with the kit and the results of any testing that I do. Would the PCB design files be open source?

The above post was by me.

I'd definitely be interested in buying a kit too.
