To Marcel,

If it ain't broke - why fix it?  Why not use the old version?
Why change to the new version?

Steve, & Marcel,

You both have access to

    (A) a board with the chip on it, I don't - and I suspect others don't
    (B) and obviously you can build open ocd source...
    (C) you both probably know how printf() works.

Perhaps both of you could work together and narrow the problem down to a 
more specific point. (ie: At Line X, in the file FOO.C)  Sure, printf() 
debug sucks, but it is sure better then blinking LEDs and Buzzing beepers.
