Heh - we're working on getting some of your suggestions implemented. The main push for development now is to get 1.1.4 released so that we can have a 1.2 branch and we can actually start getting some of the cool stuff underway in the 1.3 development cycle. We are also thinking about making the file location POSIX compliant (although that means different things in, say, Debian, versus the rest of the world). DJ has committed a new "runjava" process that does what you suggest - use JAVA_HOME but if it is not defined, look for it, and if it is not found, stop the install. It will be in 1.1.4. Thanks again for your comments, and they are not frustrating at all. The only thing frustrating is the limits imposed by 24 hour days.
