  • Great solution. It allows you to completely modified it according to your needs (if you are not afraid of the cli, of course) and it is able to complete all the tasks for you. One small disadvantage is the fact that you don't have the ability to monitor custom udp services (out of the box) and need to write an individual scripts for detecting each service using the GPplugin. I hope that in some new version we will see an Udpplugin, similar to the one created for tcp. But all in all great solution

  • I've already installed Nagios on Fedora and although setting it up was tolerable, configuring it looks like a monumental task and it doesn't scale well. I'm wondering if I should just cut my losses and go with a paid program like OpManager or with an open source alternative such as openNMS. Has anyone had much success with the free edition of Nagios? How about OpenNMS?
