Is this the problem you observed? One thing to note, you may need to completely close your browser and / or clear your browser cache or you will automatically login again as admin/admin when you open the OpenNMS gui. The other thing to note, if you want to create a new user and give that user Admin rights, simply create the users and add them to the admin list (separated by commas) at the bottom of the magic-users.properties file in /opt/OpenNMS/etc or /usr/local/opennms or wherever your OpenNMS config files live.
