Openjardin is a free software GNU gpl 3.0 for the management of a permaculture oriented garden. (Français-Italiano-English)
It allows interactive management of crop plots, with annual planning and crop rotation .
Le logiciel Open jardin est destiné à la gestion des cultures d'un jardin à partir d'un plan avec la représentation de parcelles, de fiches de cultures, d'un tableau du planning annuel par parcelle, et d'un tableau des rotations de cultures sur 5 ans pour chaque parcelle avec la visualisation des cultures précédentes colorées selon la famille botanique.

OpenJardin's free software is not very intuitive, and the documentation is scant. There is no tutorial either. However, it can be very useful for farmers, or anyone with large or complex vegetable gardens requiring crop rotation and detailed planning. I use it for my acreage (6 vegetable gardens, fruit trees and other plots). It comes with a limited knowledge base of edible crops, indicating compatible and non-compatible species, essential for permaculture. It stores and displays many years of crop data, and has other good features (even a utility to make Gantt charts, to plan team projects, which I have not yet figured out). Another feature, or annoyance, is the big green "Open Jardin" logo put in the background of every map made. But this is good, since you can easily erase it from the "message.png" image in the program's folder, then put your own logo on it. It has some bugs and errors though. It was created in French and, although it will build English databases, these still contain a few confusing French words, as do pop-up boxes and prompts. Still, this is not a real problem. The biggest problem was, after spending much time building a database of seed varieties for one map of one garden, a bug in the program would not allow me to export those records into the map of another garden. All maps should be able to be updated, at any time, with any new records of plant varieties, species and families added to any other maps. Also, if I tried to get two or more garden maps to share one database, records of plant cultures for each map were not separated. I made one map of all annual cultures in all gardens to get around this, but these bugs needs fixing. In summary, with some effort and workarounds, it meets most gardening needs very well.

It takes a little to get used to this software. In fact expect to spend a day understanding how each page communicate with each other. Once that is mastered openjardin works extremely well. I am lucky in that I live in France so understand the veg species in french. However a lot of the software is written in english so do not be put off. Worth the time and effort thanks so much for allowing me to share this software.
