If I understand this correctly, this code will handle receiving
commands from the IPMB and sending responses to the IPMB. It will
also handle bridging messages from LAN or the system interface
to the IPMB. So it will work for a satellite MC or for a BMC,
though the BMC part may be untested.
The only issue I have is that if someone else comes along with
a different IPMB interface, it won't be easy to interface in.
I'm ok with the code not being able to do this, as code can be
easily changed, but the user API in the conf file needs to be
flexible enough to handle it. Instead of "ipmbdev", perhaps
a name that is more specific to the Linux interface you added.
I thing that would be enough. A pluggable interface can be
added in the future if necessary.
Also, as part of that, there may be cases where a device is
not in /dev, especially in a highly customized embedded system,
so it's probably best to remove that check.
And you are using strncmp when referencing ipmbdev. That means
anything beginning with "ipmbdev" will match. I think just a
regular strcmp is best there.
Other than those nits, everything looks good. It looks like
you are checking all your message lengths, the style looks
good, etc.
